Blog Whats A Blog

Notas del editor

  1. There’s a blog about almost anything anyone is interested in. You can find blogs on cooking, knitting, reading, news, humor, politics, etc etc. They can teach you new skills or keep you up to date on the news.
  2. You can search on your favorite search engine for the topic you are interested in with the word “blog”
  3. I put knitting blogs into google and came up with a number of different blogs about knitting
  4. This knitting blog lists other knitting blogs. Sometimes a blogger will talk about another blogger and link to it.
  5. RSS readers collect “feeds”—new posts on blogs. When you sign into your rss reader, or feed reader, the blogs with new posts are shown in bold, with the number of new posts that are waiting for you. You click on the bold items to read the posts. When you are done you can set them to “read” so they won’t show up anymore. You can also save posts that you want to refer back to later on. Most readers also let you email posts to your friends, or send the post to your own blog.
  6. The title of the post is in bold. You can click on the title to read more of the post. Some blogs only have the headline show up in the feed reader, some let you read the entire post from within the reader.
  7. First you have to install the reader software or sign up with an online reader. Most blogs have a subscription button, if not, click on add a subscription from within your reader and copy the blog’s address into it.
  8. You can start your own blog within minutes using web based applications. You can also download the software for blogging.
  9. Blogger and Wordpress are two very common blog platforms. Blogger is free and hosted by google. Wordpress is often downloaded to your own computer and hosted on your own server, but can be hosted by wordpress as well.
  10. These are just three of the books on blogging you can check out from the library. There are many more (subject heading = blogs.)
