Tw5 ii: Description
1. TW5: Description and Frank
1. Primary and secondary info, from Dobyns and link #2. Explain dichotomy of having too
much/little of each.
2. Evocative writing, must stress that description applies to introspection as well as
‘scenery’.Emotion and personal development are likely to be primary in their narratives.
Come to think of it… what kind of narrative in this cw would benefit from description of
scene over description of emotion? Initiation maybe..?
3. Reminder, simple literary tropes make the biggest difference. Stress that GCSE devises
(metaphor, adverbs on dialogue verbs, dialogue verbs besides ‘said’ etc) are the
garnish/window dressing. They will not hide a poorly structured/formatted narrative.
