Goals for the Program
  Enhance depth and breadth of faculty expertise to support
            teaching and learning in medicine.




Foster the development of a cadre of academic leaders who can
            model best practices in teaching within
        undergraduate, clinical, and graduate programs.




 Promote leadership in the scholarship of teaching and learning
(SoTL) through contributions in the medical education literature.
How it Works
One or more courses
(2 credit hours each)

Provides knowledge and skills in     Introduces principles and

How do you pay for a TiME course?
VCU-paid faculty may use their tuition waiver benefits to cover
the costs of courses.

  • Up to two courses per semester (full-time, after one year of
    employment).
  • If employee withdraws after the deadline / fails to complete the course /
    leaves the University / earns an unsatisfactory grade, tuition waiver is
    revoked and employee becomes responsible for tuition.

Other faculty who teach for the School of Medicine are
encouraged to seek tuition assistance through their home
institutions.
Application Process
  Faculty member completes TiME application form and submits a 1-page
        letter of interest / reasons for wanting to join the program.



 Faculty member obtains a letter of support from department or division
                                  chair.



  Faculty member completes University Tuition Waiver form and In-State
                      tuition form (if needed).



 Upon University approval of the Certificate in Medical Education program,
faculty will need to apply to the School of Education to earn the Certificate.

  • 9. How do you pay for a TiME course? VCU-paid faculty may use their tuition waiver benefits to cover the costs of courses. • Up to two courses per semester (full-time, after one year of employment). • If employee withdraws after the deadline / fails to complete the course / leaves the University / earns an unsatisfactory grade, tuition waiver is revoked and employee becomes responsible for tuition. Other faculty who teach for the School of Medicine are encouraged to seek tuition assistance through their home institutions.
  • 10. Application Process Faculty member completes TiME application form and submits a 1-page letter of interest / reasons for wanting to join the program. Faculty member obtains a letter of support from department or division chair. Faculty member completes University Tuition Waiver form and In-State tuition form (if needed). Upon University approval of the Certificate in Medical Education program, faculty will need to apply to the School of Education to earn the Certificate.
