Good evening, my name is Toni, I’ve been a teacher for 8 years, and I’m the co-founder of Eneza Education. Eneza is a movement to make education accessible to 50M students in rural Africa. We provide basic tutoring and data on simple, $10 cell phones.
TITLE: WHY KIDS FAILReasons kids fail: 1. Student-teacher ratio is around 60:1 and kids don’t get individualized feedback. 2. Stakeholder involved in education don’t share data unless it’s too late. 3. Most parents cannot afford fancy solutions, expensive devices when they make less than $2/day.
Value Prep
Clearly, the idea is starting to catch on. We have 100,000 paying students at over 100 school across Kenya. We are the only mobile learning company in Africa with this much traffic and we’re well on our way to reaching 50 Million students across Africa.
Though text messaging, we started providing high quality, interactive quizzes aligned to the local content. These quizzes provided feedback to kids, just like a teacher sitting on their shoulders would.
