my answer to evaluation q 4 for my A2 media year.

1. How did you use new media
technologies in the
construction and research,
planning and evaluation
stages?

2. Prezi
 Prezi is a free online service which allows you to create animated
presentations with various themes and filters. It proved very useful to me
and was one of the most used technologies throughout my A2 year.
 I utilised prezi in the following stages of my A2 year:
 Research; music video and digipak analysis
 Target audience research
 Mise en scene research
 Shooting schedule
 Evaluation question 1

3. YouTube
 YouTube is a free online service which allows you to create your own
channel where you can upload and share videos of all kinds worldwide.
This is an online service which clearly would be of great use to an A2
media student.
 I utilised YouTube in the following ways:
 Research; embedding and watching music videos to analyse them
 Uploading; practice shots and the final production
 Embedding videos onto blogger

4. Final Cut Pro X
 Final Cut Pro X is an editing suite which is pretty much as close as you can
get to a professional suite from your home desk. This service does not
come free but as an A-level media student my college provided this for us.
 I utilised Final Cut Pro X in the following ways:
 Editing practice shots
 Practicing the Pleasantville effect
 Editing the actual final music video
 This software allowed me to create various effects in the music video, I think I really did use the
software to its full potential with the use of black and white filters, vignette effects which where
adjusted to be custom effects, colour adjustments of shots using the saturation slider, slow
motion and also reverse effects.

5. Microsoft PowerPoint
 PowerPoint is a downloadable software which allows you to create
presentations which are both elegant and professional. This service is not
free to the consumer but as an A-level student the college provide a free
download of the latest version of the software which was very helpful.
 I utilised PowerPoint in the following ways:
 Storyboard for final production (music video)
 Evaluation questions 2 & 4

6. Microsoft Publisher
 Publisher is a downloadable service which is similar to that of PowerPoint
and was accessible to me in the same way. However you cannot create
slideshows but it is very useful in crating one page productions which is
why it proved useful for me in my A2 media year.
 I utilised Publisher in the following ways:
 Final production ancillary tasks:
 Website
 Digipak

7. Slideshare
 Slideshare is an online service which is free and allows you to create
slideshows and share them worldwide and also it allows you to embed
them into blogger. This feature was very useful for me because the service
allows you to import finished PowerPoint presentations and then this means
you can embed them into your blogger page.
 I utilised Slideshare in the following ways:
 Via the use of PowerPoint:
 Storyboard for final piece (music video)
 Evaluation questions 2 & 4

8. Blogger
 Blogger is a free online service which allows you to create personal blog in
which you can create various pages and publish things in these pages and
embed videos and so on. This service was the advised media choice for our A2
media productions and it proved to be very useful.
 Blogger was used throughout the whole of my A2 year to post all of the
research, planning, construction, ancillary tasks, final productions and
evaluation questions onto a sharable format which is accessible to anyone
worldwide.
 The service which it provided was very good and it was also very simple and
easy to use. The use of blogger was very beneficial to my A2 media
coursework because it allowed me to present all of my work in a professional
way which could be viewable and mark-able in an easy fashion.
