DAY 1: Strategic Planning
Create a social media strategic plan that directly relates to the company’s goals. The plan will include a segmentation,
targeting, and positioning (STP) analysis, preparation of specific, measureable, attainable, relevant, and time-based
(SMART) goals for both internal and external purposes as well as itemized key performance indicators (KPI’s).
DAY 2: Compliance, Governance, Research & Analysis
Create company policies that include: social media use, employee compliance, administrative procedures for
governance, communication, and reporting. Utilize keyword analysis and appropriate analytics tools
and recognize how to optimize KPI and action appropriately.
DAY 3: Social Media Marketing
Generate a market map and social media marketing plan for valuable and innovative
content that relates to company culture.
DAY 4 & 5: Project & Community Management
Develop a content management plan that includes monitoring, maintaining, and analyzing social media as well as
develop a request for proposal.
*The course is approved by the National Institute for Social Media. The NISM Certified Social Media Examination is available through Merced College
Community Services – examination eligibility requirements are 64 academic units OR a minimum of 2 years business experience related to social media.
