1. Within this slide show I am going to show you the advancement of health care devices and how they have changed over the years. From as early as the 1800’s people have been using devices to help them with everyday life when a health related problem is causing a problem with taking care of one’s self. Now we have just advanced on most of the things that have been around for hundreds of years.
2. Here you can see what a wheelchair looked like back in 1842 where as on the right we have a wheelchair that you can go to the drug store and buy today. Really not much has changed in the way of the design and one has been made to be a bit more comfortable than the other. This is just the kind of devices in use today.
3. Here is an example of the advancement in technology within the health care devices. The ones on the left you have to hold in your have and place into the ear to have better hearing but only had a limited hearing change. The hearing aids on the right are new where you can get ones that fit right into your ear and you can’t see them or one that go over the back. Also with these you can change the hearing power so that it can be louder or quieter.
4. Here you can see that we have glasses out and you can see the difference between them. Just in the design alone you can see that they are very different but if you take a closer look you would see that the lenses are very different as well. The lenses on the left are made of real glass and also hand cut. Very different from the glasses on the left where they are made of a plastic and are cut completely by computer and can also be made into by focols and tri focols.
5. This is an actual image of anlazer eye surgery and this was never thought to be possible 5 years ago. Now more and more people are turning to surgons that perform this surgery rather than continue to get glasses year after year as there eye slowly gets worse. I believe that there will be more advancement within the health care field like this that will help keep costs down.
6. Here is a chair lift that have been starting to be used within homes within the last 30 years. It is a way where people can get to their bedroom without risk of falling down the stairs because of bad joints or muscles.
