Dear Grandpa and grandma
Yesterday at my school we had an International day. We had performances,
food stalls, displays, raffle ticket draw, and some of us were dressed in
costumes.
We started our day off with performances but the one I liked best was the one
from fourth grade. We played games. The performance I was in was Labamba.
Straight after our performances we had our lunch. There were food stalls. They
came from Australia, Asia, Arab, and Greece
Everyone had a job. These people were from sixth grade. I did my job after I
had lunch. My job was to sell International Day Books.
We had displays in the hall. These displays were good but I didn’t get to see
them. The displays came from a lot of countries.
There was also a Trash and Treasure stall where they sold toys. The school got
these things by asking the children to bring them in.
Although I didn’t win anything, International Day was still fun
Love from Sue

For example:
Recycle
Glass can be remelted. This is better than making fresh glass from raw materials,
but it is even better to reuse the bottle whole. Metals can be recycled by being remelted and
then used to make other new items. The metals to recycle from an ordinary household are
aluminium and steel from cans. Scrap from cars gives several different metals for recycling.
Paper is easy to recycle. Every home and office have a paper reclining to recycle
and cause harmful pollution when broutine. Plastics are the worst problem because they do
to use as little plastics as possible, and then only ones that are recycleabl not biodegrade
(breakdown) easily. They are also hard urned. It is important e or biodegradeable.
Much of what we throw away could be used again. Recycling puts “garbage” to
good use. Recycling helps preserve precious recources because it saves on the use of raw
materials and energy. It also reduces the pollution caused when the waste is dumped.
Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect
Our world is suffering, and it is suffering from something people call
the "Greenhouse" effect. The greenhouse effect is caused by humans over pollution of the
earth. If we do not stop this soon the earth will "die".
We have caused this over many years of over industrialization in this
growing world. We think that bigger is better, so we make vehicles bigger and
89
better, and we make pretty much everything else bigger as well. So we make
larger factories to build these larger things, and these larger factories
release larger amounts of pollution.
Scientist has been predicting the outcome of this change for years now,
but none of these scientists believe in the same thing. The ones that do think
that it will come at a different time. So people are still optimistic on what
is going to happen, and when it is going to take place.
First, to understand what the greenhouse effect is, we must first understand what a
Greenhouse is. A Greenhouse is a building made either of
clear plastic sheets, or of glass. The sun's rays go through the glass, and
heat up the air inside the building, and they have a hard time getting out. These rays get
trapped inside the building, and continually heat the air inside, and even through the night
the rays stay in and heat the air. The greenhouse is also called a "HOT HOUSE" because it
gets so hot.
The greenhouse effect is caused by gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon
dioxide, and nitrogen escaping into the atmosphere. These gases get trapped in
the ozone layer and do not let the suns rays escape very easily. This causes
the earth to warm up. This warming can cause droughts, and this would really
affect the farmers. This heating up will cause the plants and animals would die.
So, we must keep our earth in order to be happy in our life. Say no to Global
Warming….!!!

Arranging paragraph of an exposition text.
Arrange these paragraph into a good exposition text! After that, analyze the generic structure of that text!
Smoking
Apparently that makes them the born smokers. Now they do smoke fairly regularly. They can not avoid smoking
and they enjoy too. They have smoker friends. Everyday they bring a pack in their pocket. For them, a pack of
cigarette is as important as a wallet for their money.
Well, still want to try smoke? Think the facts before trying! If you are not smoker, you should never and never try
to smoke.
Then they decide it is stupid to harm selves. They want to quit smoking. Unfortunately, they find that quitting
smoking is so difficult. “Why can't I stop smoking? I really want to stop it”. It is hard to quit because nicotine is
powerfully addictive. Cigarette is one of the most efficient drug-delivery devices ever devised. As result, when
people try to quit smoking, they often experience classic nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, irritability,
headache, depression, and restlessness.
Suddenly, for certain reason, they realize the fact that tobacco is the cause of a long list of nasty diseases. It is not
only heart disease, stroke, and chronic lung disease but also bladder, lung, and pancreatic cancer. Even it was
reported that around 400,000 Americans died each year. It was one every 80 seconds from tobacco-related illnesses.
A lot of people, especially teenagers, who do not smoke, always want to try smoking. They know it is bad for them and
all, but it is just something they want to try. So they ask one of their smoker friends for a cigarette. Admittedly, they
firstly cannot light it on their own so they ask his friend to do it. Then they inhale that cigarette and smoke
occasionally.

We had performances, food stalls, displays, raffle ticket draw, and some of us were dressed in costumes. We started our day off with performances but the one I liked best was the one from fourth grade. We played games. The performance I was in was Labamba. Straight after our performances we had our lunch. There were food stalls. They came from Australia, Asia, Arab, and Greece Everyone had a job. These people were from sixth grade. I did my job after I had lunch. My job was to sell International Day Books. We had displays in the hall. These displays were good but I didn’t get to see them. The displays came from a lot of countries. There was also a Trash and Treasure stall where they sold toys. The school got these things by asking the children to bring them in. Although I didn’t win anything, International Day was still fun Love from Sue

  • 6. 88 For example: Recycle Glass can be remelted. This is better than making fresh glass from raw materials, but it is even better to reuse the bottle whole. Metals can be recycled by being remelted and then used to make other new items. The metals to recycle from an ordinary household are aluminium and steel from cans. Scrap from cars gives several different metals for recycling. Paper is easy to recycle. Every home and office have a paper reclining to recycle and cause harmful pollution when broutine. Plastics are the worst problem because they do to use as little plastics as possible, and then only ones that are recycleabl not biodegrade (breakdown) easily. They are also hard urned. It is important e or biodegradeable. Much of what we throw away could be used again. Recycling puts “garbage” to good use. Recycling helps preserve precious recources because it saves on the use of raw materials and energy. It also reduces the pollution caused when the waste is dumped. Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect Our world is suffering, and it is suffering from something people call the "Greenhouse" effect. The greenhouse effect is caused by humans over pollution of the earth. If we do not stop this soon the earth will "die". We have caused this over many years of over industrialization in this growing world. We think that bigger is better, so we make vehicles bigger and
  • 7. 89 better, and we make pretty much everything else bigger as well. So we make larger factories to build these larger things, and these larger factories release larger amounts of pollution. Scientist has been predicting the outcome of this change for years now, but none of these scientists believe in the same thing. The ones that do think that it will come at a different time. So people are still optimistic on what is going to happen, and when it is going to take place. First, to understand what the greenhouse effect is, we must first understand what a Greenhouse is. A Greenhouse is a building made either of clear plastic sheets, or of glass. The sun's rays go through the glass, and heat up the air inside the building, and they have a hard time getting out. These rays get trapped inside the building, and continually heat the air inside, and even through the night the rays stay in and heat the air. The greenhouse is also called a "HOT HOUSE" because it gets so hot. The greenhouse effect is caused by gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen escaping into the atmosphere. These gases get trapped in the ozone layer and do not let the suns rays escape very easily. This causes the earth to warm up. This warming can cause droughts, and this would really affect the farmers. This heating up will cause the plants and animals would die. So, we must keep our earth in order to be happy in our life. Say no to Global Warming….!!! E.Learning Method: Three-Phase Technique ( Pre Writing, Whilst Writing and Post Writing) F.Learning Procedure : 1. Pre Activities Teacher is going to: a. After that, analyze the generic structure of that text! Smoking Apparently that makes them the born smokers. Now they do smoke fairly regularly. They can not avoid smoking and they enjoy too. They have smoker friends. Everyday they bring a pack in their pocket. For them, a pack of cigarette is as important as a wallet for their money. Well, still want to try smoke? Think the facts before trying! If you are not smoker, you should never and never try to smoke. Then they decide it is stupid to harm selves. They want to quit smoking. Unfortunately, they find that quitting smoking is so difficult. “Why can't I stop smoking? I really want to stop it”. It is hard to quit because nicotine is powerfully addictive. Cigarette is one of the most efficient drug-delivery devices ever devised. As result, when people try to quit smoking, they often experience classic nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, headache, depression, and restlessness. Suddenly, for certain reason, they realize the fact that tobacco is the cause of a long list of nasty diseases. It is not only heart disease, stroke, and chronic lung disease but also bladder, lung, and pancreatic cancer. Even it was reported that around 400,000 Americans died each year. It was one every 80 seconds from tobacco-related illnesses. A lot of people, especially teenagers, who do not smoke, always want to try smoking. They know it is bad for them and all, but it is just something they want to try. So they ask one of their smoker friends for a cigarette. Admittedly, they firstly cannot light it on their own so they ask his friend to do it. Then they inhale that cigarette and smoke occasionally.
