This document summarizes a content analysis of advertising in Seventeen and Cosmopolitan magazines. It found that both magazines primarily featured young, thin, white female models. Seventeen targeted slightly younger readers (ages 13-18) compared to Cosmopolitan (ages 18-49). The analysis coded over 700 human characters across both magazines and found they predominantly depicted females and focused on themes of beauty, thinness, and product promotion.
