3. Woman in black
Not since young Hutter arrived at Orlok's castle in "Nosferatu" has a journey to a dreaded house
been more fearsome than the one in "The Woman in Black." Both films (and all versions of
"Dracula") begin with the local townspeople terrified of a residence and the legends
surrounding it. In this case, a green, Victorian-era attorney named Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe)
is visiting a haunted house in the north of England, which can be reached only by a single-track
road on a long, narrow causeway that lies so low in a brackish sea that the waters lap its edges.
House of wax
The Dead Teenager Movie has grown up. The characters in "House of Wax" are in their 20s and
yet still repeat the fatal errors of all the "Friday the 13th" kids who checked into Camp Crystal
Lake and didn't check out. ("Since all the other campers have been beheaded, eviscerated or
skewered, Marcie, obviously there's only one thing for us to do: Go skinny-dipping at midnight
in the haunted lake.") In "House of Wax," two carloads of college students leave Gainesville for
a big football game in Baton Rouge, and take an ominous detour along the way, leading them
into what looks like the Texas Chainsaw Theme Park. "
The two review that were taken from IMDB gives me a taste of how I should write my review. I
chose these two reviews because they also relate to my genre of horror and thriller. My review
should consist of
• some insight about the film and the characters
•Some compliment criticisms into the film
•Humor
•Never to give away ending or the whole story
•Relation to other films on either how bad or good the film is
4. MY REVIEW
BFI’s Lying Game is a sensual effective thriller picture that exhausts and frightens you from
beginning to end. It's a film that’s frightening yet it's a nicer kind of fright that leaves you in
suspense and wonder.
The character Harry played by the award winning Jonathan Peprah) repeats the fatal errors of
‘The boy that cried wolf’ that leads him to an end that the audience are lead to discover. Within
the opening of the film we are soon understand Harry's quite sinister character that is quite
comedic throughout the film. Beginning from a typical teenage movie the film seems very
cheerful and inviting however when a very classic moment when a Harry gets rejected it all
seems to go downhill. The mysterious girl (Ella Thompson) who makes her debut as the quiet
girl; but someone that should not to be messed with. The high school banter that is played out
just like a school playground rumor which gets out of hand. The director Topaz wisdom the
remarkable production of Fallen apple has made another step to capture the importance of lies
and consequences, for the saying what goes around comes around is the statement that fits
cheerful thriller of the century. Many fables have been adapted and transformed but 'The Lying
Game' has given 'The snow White of the Huntsman' are run for being one of the best
adaptations' of a fable. The sudden twist on the classic revolves mainly around the two
characters however the fatal ending is not based upon the bully/ liar Harry but upon the other
characters that gossip and create the lies that foreshadow the end and give you a fright and
wakeup call that will make you think again about lying and spread rumors for you never know
where it will get you.
