Nancy Kerrigan wrote in a letter today that she does not believe that her brother, Mark, should face
murder charges. Kerrigan's father died from cardiac arrest that was allegedly caused d
uring a fight with her brother. Middlesex District Attorney, Gerard T. Leone
Jr.'s office said that the death occurred during a fight that aggravated the pre-existing heart
condition. The charges then were upgraded from assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to
homicide.
Mark Kerrigan has a history of mental illness and substance http://www.mathplanet.com/ abuse. He
previously spent time in jail once for violence against his wife that resulted in a 2 year jail sentence.
They have since been divorced.
Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan wrote to relatives in support of her brother. According to today's
Boston Globe (2-11-10), "It has been a sad moment for us all," Kerrigan wrote. "And it isn't over yet,
particularly with the ruling this week about the cause of my dad's death; a ruling by the way which
