23. HLC Scholarship Program
Beginning in 2009, funding was provided by
Silver Cross Foundation for Hispanic/Latino
students enrolled at Joliet Township High School
District #204 or enrolled in college.
Student must explain family background, personal
interest, plan of study and why they want to
further their education.
Selections are based on student’s overall academic
progress, extracurricular activities, leadership
skills, and participation in community activities.

36. Substance Abuse Assessment
•The purpose of the assessment is to gather information
on the impact of substance abuse among Latino youth in
Joliet.
•Information will be gathered from archival data as well
as from one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders.
•A final summary of the assessment data will be
presented to the HLC by January 2012.
•Data will be used to plan more effective programming
for Joliet Hispanic youth.
