In short, science is the physical description of
our world, which may or may not lead to
beneficial technology.
By formal definition (Collins English Dictionary),
science is the systematic (testable and
repeatable) study of the nature and behaviour of
the material universe, based on observation,
experiment and measurement, including the
formulation of laws to describe these facts in
general terms.



Creationism is not science (Christian worldview)
Evolutionism is not science (Secular worldview)
Both are philosophical interpretations of the scientific findings.





Colossians 2:8 (King James Version)
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy
and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the
rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Evolutionism = Naturalism
CREATION


The biblical account is
the inerrant Word of
God inspired by the
Holy Spirit.

EVOLUTION


Everything came into
existence
out
of
nothing through sheer
chance effects.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction [even of false science],
for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16, KJV


The word evolution, in its simplest terms, means
development, e.g. evolution of the car.



INORGANIC SCENARIO:



Chassis + engine/systems + body/trimmings = motorcar







ORGANIC SCENARIO:
Skeleton + muscles/organs +
skin/hair = human being

Clearly design is present!

I praise you [LORD] because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made; your works are
wonderful, I know that full well.

The blogger Lane Chaplin once said,

If you're a follower of Christ, you'll defend
His doctrine.
1 Peter 3:15 (New International Version 2010)
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always
be prepared to give an answer to everyone who
asks you to give the reason for the hope that you
have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Creationist Sure, microevolution is observable. But where is your
evidence of ‘bears’ turning into whales and ‘cattle’ into dolphins!? LOL
Evolutionist First, there is no such evidence and no such claim made
by modern evolution. Evidence for “macroevolution” (and only
creationists make such a distinction) exists in the fossil record.
Without even getting into the fossil record, let me just ask you this.
What mechanism do you propose that would prevent speciation, given
your admission that microevolution occurs?
Creationist Microevolution is speciation in action. So why would I
present a mechanism against it? Point is, one kind of animal or life
form hasn’t, doesn’t and cannot change into another kind.
Systematics is not always clear on where the boundaries occur and the
taxa can be quite arbitrarily assigned in this regard. As for the fossil
record, it is poignant evidence of a catastrophic event/mass mortality
that took place as a result of a global flood. That’s all.
Evolutionist Speciation has been observed many times. Global flood?
Nonsense.

Theistic evolution: old earth & local flood

If evolution (gradual and substantial change over time) is true,
life is supposed to be functional only, for example:
 Giraffes growing longer necks and legs to relieve
feeding pressure/competition and browse available food
higher up in trees;
 Apes leaving their arboreal (tree-dwelling) lifestyles and
becoming bipedal (i.e. walking upright) to exploit savanna
niches.
But evolution has no foresight!

Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his
spirit was being provoked within him as he was
observing the city full of idols.
So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and
the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every
day with those who happened to be present.
And also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers
were conversing with him. Some were saying, "What
would this idle babbler wish to say?"
Others, "He seems to be a proclaimer of strange
deities," - because he was preaching Jesus and the
resurrection.

Monarchs

A larva hatches from egg within 3-12 days temp. dep.
Monarchs are holometabolous – meaning they undergo a complete metamorphosis...
Final larval stage/instars
After munching on milkweed or swan plant for about 2 weeks, it stops. Note its little claws or tarsi – 3 pairs.
Having found a suitable spot to pupate, it secretes a sticky substance from the posterior/distal end of its abdomen. Note 5 pairs of pseudopods – ‘false feet’.
Pupation to start: perfect ‘J’ of at-rest caterpillar left; on right, after almost a day (more or less), caterpillar chrysalises within minutes (effectively its last moult).
Fresh chrysalis (left); leaf-like appearance for camouflage (right).
Note the ‘glue’ attaching chrysalis to plant. Also note ‘golden’ thread and spots!
Chemical dismantling of caterpillar and rearrangement of pupa into adult take approx. 2 weeks.
The applicable pupal form is ‘pupa obtecta’

Scholtz & Holm, 1989
Translucent chrysalis splits open ventrally along a seam just behind butterfly’s head.
Haemolymph (insect blood) is pumped into the wings.
Sucking mouthparts consist of a coiled tongue or proboscis (siphoning tube). Note the split tongue like two ‘straws’ fused together (right).
Wings are still shrivelly.
Wings straightening out under tension.
Readying itself for first flight.
Danaus plexippus
Adult monarch butterfly (male has scent glands); stage duration: 2-6 weeks / 6-8 months (4th gen. to migrate – not in NZ)
Rapid transformation of monarch’s metamorphosis speaks of instantaneous creation as opposed to tardy evolution

And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him. 6 Noah
was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
7 So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark
because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean animals, of animals that are
unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth, 9 two by two
they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded
Noah. 10 And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood
were on the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the
second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the
fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven
were opened. 12 And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth,
and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the
ark— 14 they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every
creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after
its kind, every bird of every sort. 15 And they went into the ark to Noah,
two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. 16 So those that
entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded
him; and the LORD shut him in.

“With regards to an apparent stratification of various life forms, it
is also possible that the dinosaurs and ‘more primitive’ creatures
could have sunk or been buried in reverse proportion to their
buoyancy, i.e. denser life forms, such as reptiles and amphibians
sank before less dense mammalian life forms. Alternatively, as
the fountains of the deep broke open and etched the crack
through which they exploded wider and wider, the copious water
movement and movement of soils could have ‘sloshed’ back and
forth over certain areas, leaving stratified sediment. This might
explain the general stratification of various life forms in
sedimentary rocks, but it does not exclude the possibility that a
horse and dinosaur could be buried together by some other
means. Footprints of horses and people have been discovered
next to those of dinosaurs. Evolutionary scientists have a hard
time explaining this evidence.”
– Walter T. Brown

The half-life of a radioisotope is the time required for half the
atoms in a given sample to undergo radioactive/nuclear decay.

Organisms living prior to the Flood would
have absorbed little or no C-14 during
their lives since there was little or no C-14
in the air that they breathed. Thus using
current
dating
methods,
pre-flood
organisms would give the appearance of
being much older than a few thousand
years.

Accuracy depends upon assumptions concerning the past
intensity of cosmic radiation (Oxford Science Dictionary).
The earth is quite old – several thousand years!

Some sources suggest creation year to be 4004 BC (Ussher & Lightfoot).


In Genesis, the word ‘day’ (yôm) has certain
grammatical contexts, any of which alone point
strongly to 24hr days (Sarfati, 2004):
 with a numeric
 with evening and morning
 associated with night

Exodus (Sh’mot) 20:11 (Stern's Complete Jewish Bible)

day, Shabbat, and separated it for Himself.

‘Big
Bang’
Point of collapse!
Entropy = tendency of a system to run down. Best fit is assumed linear – trend remains downward.
Evolutionary thinking is contrary to fundamental/first principles. Although new traits can be gained, new information cannot.
Cosmological models, e.g. Big Bang -> Big Crunch, are in need of revision.
In general, earth will yield its produce with difficulty (Gen. 3 curses)...
There are limits to change (Dr Rob Carter, pers. comm.) – too much tweaking of a complex
system leads to its collapse, thus long-term evolution is impossible.

I have shown that the earth is reasonably young.
Yôm does not mean age!
Considering the stark pre-Flood and post-Flood differences, which invalidate any
radioisotope dating beyond c.4500yrs, the earth is certainly not billions of years old.

Acts 17:11 (New International Version 2010)
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character
than those in Thessalonica, for they received the
message with great eagerness and examined the
Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was

The meticulous and accurate recordkeeping of the Jewish people (verbal/written

1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (King James Version)
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom

Romans 1:20 (Amplified Bible)
For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal
power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things

Romans 6:23 (Amplified Bible)
For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through

Romans 10:13 (Amplified Bible)
For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.

CREATION-EVOLUTION CONTROVERSY

  • 1. By Victor Meyer, PhD © National Geographic
  • 2.   In short, science is the physical description of our world, which may or may not lead to beneficial technology. By formal definition (Collins English Dictionary), science is the systematic (testable and repeatable) study of the nature and behaviour of the material universe, based on observation, experiment and measurement, including the formulation of laws to describe these facts in general terms.
  • 3.   Creationism is not science (Christian worldview) Evolutionism is not science (Secular worldview) Both are philosophical interpretations of the scientific findings.   Colossians 2:8 (King James Version) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Evolutionism = Naturalism
  • 4. CREATION  The biblical account is the inerrant Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. EVOLUTION  Everything came into existence out of nothing through sheer chance effects. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction [even of false science], for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16, KJV
  • 5.  The word evolution, in its simplest terms, means development, e.g. evolution of the car.  INORGANIC SCENARIO:  Chassis + engine/systems + body/trimmings = motorcar
  • 6.     ORGANIC SCENARIO: Skeleton + muscles/organs + skin/hair = human being Clearly design is present! I praise you [LORD] because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  Psalm 139:14, NIVV

  • 8.     The blogger Lane Chaplin once said, If you're a follower of Christ, you'll defend His doctrine. 1 Peter 3:15 (New International Version 2010) But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
  • 9.     Creationist Sure, microevolution is observable. But where is your evidence of ‘bears’ turning into whales and ‘cattle’ into dolphins!? LOL Evolutionist First, there is no such evidence and no such claim made by modern evolution. Evidence for “macroevolution” (and only creationists make such a distinction) exists in the fossil record. Without even getting into the fossil record, let me just ask you this. What mechanism do you propose that would prevent speciation, given your admission that microevolution occurs? Creationist Microevolution is speciation in action. So why would I present a mechanism against it? Point is, one kind of animal or life form hasn’t, doesn’t and cannot change into another kind. Systematics is not always clear on where the boundaries occur and the taxa can be quite arbitrarily assigned in this regard. As for the fossil record, it is poignant evidence of a catastrophic event/mass mortality that took place as a result of a global flood. That’s all. Evolutionist Speciation has been observed many times. Global flood? Nonsense.

But evolution has no foresight!

So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present. And also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. Some were saying, "What would this idle babbler wish to say?" Others, "He seems to be a proclaimer of strange deities," - because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.

  • 69. “With regards to an apparent stratification of various life forms, it is also possible that the dinosaurs and ‘more primitive’ creatures could have sunk or been buried in reverse proportion to their buoyancy, i.e. denser life forms, such as reptiles and amphibians sank before less dense mammalian life forms. Alternatively, as the fountains of the deep broke open and etched the crack through which they exploded wider and wider, the copious water movement and movement of soils could have ‘sloshed’ back and forth over certain areas, leaving stratified sediment. This might explain the general stratification of various life forms in sedimentary rocks, but it does not exclude the possibility that a horse and dinosaur could be buried together by some other means. Footprints of horses and people have been discovered next to those of dinosaurs. Evolutionary scientists have a hard time explaining this evidence.” – Walter T. Brown
  • 70.  Many erect fossil trees in Nova Scotia were found “throughout 2,500 feet of geologic strata, penetrating 20 geologic horizons. • 71. Click picture for online video clip... The half-life of a radioisotope is the time required for half the atoms in a given sample to undergo radioactive/nuclear decay. Organisms living prior to the Flood would have absorbed little or no C-14 during their lives since there was little or no C-14 in the air that they breathed. Thus using current dating methods, pre-flood organisms would give the appearance of being much older than a few thousand years. There are limits to change (Dr Rob Carter, pers. comm.) – too much tweaking of a complex system leads to its collapse, thus long-term evolution is impossible. Meyer, 2010

  • 76.     2 Corinthians 10:5 (New International Version 2010) We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Acts 17:11 (New International Version 2010) Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
