Microsoft Azure, offers
IPSaaS
The Windows Azure best fits in IaaS + PaaS category today.
As of today they have about 13 data centers across the globe the very recent one in Brazil (Sao Paulo) with an additional 24 Content Delivery Network endpoints. You can’t have a real cloud without a data center. And 2 new data centers in Australia announced. Adding more data centers in next year.
(Azure is the cloud offering from Microsoft that is most comprehensive cloud offering in the market there is today)
Azure has better price for performance than Amazon Elastic Cloud or any other competitor, better interoperability with Microsoft Apps (they generally do awesome job there ), end-to-end support for Oracle, it's doesn’t surprise me that over 53% of Fortune 500 companies are using Azure.
Azure offers by-the-minute billing as opposed to hourly billing offered by another (AWS)
Have an Idea for next Facebook, Azure is reasonable foundation
Most common scenarios are
Websites and webhosting – Deploy and scale modern websites and web apps in seconds
Virtual Machines (Windows or Non Windows)
Relations Database as Service (SQL, Oracle, Redis etc)
Big Data
Internet of things
Machine learning
Mobile apps
Remote App – Deploy windows client apps in the cloud and run on any device (via remote desktop client on their devices)
The most important one, where over 91% of companies fail… anyone?? Start-ups, Fail fast, or scale fast, fail often
