Environment Management Directorate is the new
wing of the Railways – Jan 3
I. Environment Management Directorate, the new
wing of the Railways, will be responsible for ensuring
effective utilisation of water resources
ii. The Environment Directorate will be headed by an

iii. There will be six Executive Directors (ED)
iv. All these six EDs will discharge duties connected
with The Environment Management Directorate
BJP government to promote 600 km of inland
waterways
i. The central government is keen on starting inland
waterways of more than 600 kms connecting Andhra
Pradesh and Puducherry for transportation of
commercial goods
ii. The project estimated to cost Rs 2,400 crore, aims to
connect canals between Kakinada in Andhra
Pradesh's Godavari district to Puducherry
iii. National Waterway 4 (NW-4) is currently under

i. Government is planning to set up a pilot project to

Payments banks can issue RuPay debit cards
i. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI),

All these six EDs will discharge duties connected with The Environment Management Directorate BJP government to promote 600 km of inland waterways i. The central government is keen on starting inland waterways of more than 600 kms connecting Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry for transportation of commercial goods ii. Government is planning to set up a pilot project to produce urea from coal in Odisha soon, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Ahir said ii. The government was also planning to start generic medical shops. Three thousand such shops would be set up in the first phase Payments banks can issue RuPay debit cards i. The Task Force had suggested that the government should set up a holding company under the Department of Posts for immediate roll out of banking, insurance and e-commerce services by the 1.55 lakh strong postal network ii. The holding company should have five different verticals, and three of them -- banking, insurance and e-commerce iii. The panel also suggested establishing Post Bank of India as a separate entity with a branch in each district in the first three years iv.
