- From the past we have got fundamental school in animal systematic. See slide. Our collections are the base for ecological and animal protection researches.
- Today our library consists more then 15 0 thousands volumes. Via Scientific library of NAS we have access to Scopus – one of the most comprehensive database in biology.
- We have so called Centers for collective using of unique scientific equipment. It allow us to share this equipment among academic institutes. Our institute has excellent light microscope and we can use scanning electron microscope or real time PCR machine in other institutes.
- Synthesis of traditional morphological and modern molecular approaches gives us opportunity to work on high level in taxonomy and phylogenetic. As example here you can see taxonomic analysis of parasitoid flies, which used for biological control of plant pests.
- This slide demonstrated molecular researches on population level.
- Studying of Ukrainian faunistic biodiversity to develop programs on its conservation in reserves and man-made changed cenoses we are envolved to global international environmental projects ( European econetwork , international Red Lists , CITES ), Bern , Rio de Janeiro, Ramsar .
- We have done substantiation reports for creating of ecological corridors on the territory of Ukraine and Animal Red Book list
- Now we are working on strategy of Bison bonasus protection
- We have done the conception of development Azov-Black Sea ecological corridor and creating National park at downstream of Bug river
- We also Investigate of effect of alien species and GMO on faunistic resources of Ukraine , develope of special programs , searching for indigenous species, possibilities (regulators) to control number of invader s ( invading species ).
- Our Institute study of adaptations in different levels biodiversity to extreme abiotic and biotic factors including global climate warming, man-made factors in cities , state of space weightlessness , etc.
- Our scientists have created some spatial models of ecological niche and species distribution .
- And made Prognosis of bird flu dynamic in 2005
- We were first who have found expected alveollar echinococcus in Western Ukraine.
- And several new for Ukraine species of Trichinella
- Development of bones under zero gravity
- Results of our work is presented in row monograph. Here presented books for last 5 years
- Our journal “Vestnik of Zoology “ is distributed by Metapress via Versita
