The Indian military consists of the second largest military in terms of personnel and the largest in terms of active manpower. It is developing new missile defense systems and maintaining a nuclear triad capability. Recent additions to the Indian military include the launching of new stealth frigates and the commissioning of new warships, as well as plans to produce mine-proof vehicles. The Indian Air Force will form its first squadron of the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft and is ordering additional Sukhoi fighters. India is also working jointly with Russia to develop a fifth generation stealth fighter.
