      DNV Software releases new versions of the
      Sesam product lines DeepC, GeniE and HydroD
      The new versions of DeepC, GeniE and HydroD
      focus on providing more flexibility in performing
      design analyses and on giving our users more
      advanced analysis options to fine-tune the design.
      We have increased Sesam’s coverage to also
      include design of umbilicals.

             GeniE v6.0 – Benefits
             Full support of 64 bit technology will give our users access to
             “unlimited amount” of memory. This will in particular help out
             when modelling very large models, but also during code checking
             of models with a significant high number of load cases.
             Furthermore, it can import additional Sacs data and the code
             checking has been made even more flexible for the ISO standard.

GeniE v6.1 – Main benefits                                   Released
                                                                          March 2012


             Our users can now maintain and control the finite element
             numbering of beam models. This also applies to imported models
             from FEM or Sacs format.
             The manual labour to redefine wave load data for imported models
             is no longer needed as GeniE can import wave load date from older
             Sesam format and Sacs.
             GeniE can now include tension or compression elements in linear
             analysis to the benefit of e.g. lifting or jack-up analysis. Ask us for
             a utility tool to run Sestra tension/compression analysis.
             Beams in X-joints can be fully disconnected. This leads to a sound
             non-linear analysis model as well as improved tension/compression
             analysis.

      Azimuthal angle tolerance
      - The user can now define azimuthal tolerance angle for joint
        design. This provides the possibility to define different sets of
        braces to be used on Joint Punch Check Analysis
      - Previous GeniE versions used 5 degrees as default value

      Define Brace - Can End distance
      - Define Brace - Can End distance in opposition to the only
        method used before (min distance).
      - This option gives the individual brace - can end distance for
        the joint punch analysis.

      GeniE allows users to choose between internal forces
      on cone structures or adjacent forces on tubulars
      close to transitions points for Cone Code Check
      Analysis
      GeniE has two ways of retrieve axial forces for cone
      code checks.
      - Default behaviour: Conical internal forces - the internal
        axial forces are retrieved
      - User option: External forces - in this case the forces at the
        transitions are retrieved

             model is fit for use in non-linear analysis.
             There are new program defaults and accuracy parameters that will
             help the user during analysis and joint capacity checking

             verification of the model as well as easier hydrodynamic.

Stricter data check of the imported model
      Element length vs. diameter
      - Very short elements could cause unnecessary numerical
        problems
      - If L/D < 0.5 Usfos will stop and report this as an illegal short
        element


      Eccentricity vs. element length
      - Source for numerical inaccuracies when extreme eccentricities
      - If (e1+e2)/L < 0.5 Usfos will stop and report this as an illegal big
        eccentricity

      Soil thickness vs. pile diameter
      - In a normal pile-soil model, the soil thickness is typically 3-10
        times the pile diameter
      - If Thick/D <1.0 Usfos will report this as an illegal thin soil layer

      You may over-rule these data checks
      - In most cases not recommended

The Sesam 2011 DVD - August 2011 DNV Software releases new versions of the Sesam product lines DeepC, GeniE and HydroD The new versions of DeepC, GeniE and HydroD focus on providing more flexibility in performing design analyses and on giving our users more advanced analysis options to fine-tune the design. We have increased Sesam’s coverage to also include design of umbilicals. “The continuous investments in Sesam lead to new and improved products that help our customers become even more productive,” says Ole Jan Nekstad, Product Director Sesam.   • 5. Released December 2011 GeniE v6.0 – Benefits Full support of 64 bit technology will give our users access to “unlimited amount” of memory. This will in particular help out when modelling very large models, but also during code checking of models with a significant high number of load cases.   • 8. GeniE v6.1 – Main benefits Released March 2012 Our users can now maintain and control the finite element numbering of beam models. This also applies to imported models from FEM or Sacs format. The manual labour to redefine wave load data for imported models is no longer needed as GeniE can import wave load date from older Sesam format and Sacs. GeniE can now include tension or compression elements in linear analysis to the benefit of e.g. lifting or jack-up analysis. Ask us for a utility tool to run Sestra tension/compression analysis. Beams in X-joints can be fully disconnected. This leads to a sound non-linear analysis model as well as improved tension/compression analysis. SesamTM 3 December 2012 © Det Norske Veritas AS. This provides the possibility to define different sets of braces to be used on Joint Punch Check Analysis - Previous GeniE versions used 5 degrees as default value Define Brace - Can End distance - Define Brace - Can End distance in opposition to the only method used before (min distance). - This option gives the individual brace - can end distance for the joint punch analysis.
