6. To find a book, we should click on the BOOKS tab on the library’s home page.

7. Let’s do a search for:introduction to special education

8. The second book looks good, so we’re going to write down its Title and Call Number

11. Let’s find our book!We can grab a map from any service desk.

12. The first part of the Call Number tells us which section the book is in. LC 3981 .S56 2001

13. So we need to look for the LCsbetween the LBs and the Ms

14. The second part of the Call Number tells us which row the book is on. LC 3981 .S56 2001

15. Since the number 3981 is between 3951 and 4091, we know we need to go to the right.

16. Next, we browse the Call Numbers on the spines of the books to find 3981. Note that the same number can be split between shelves. 3979 3980 3979 3980 3981 3982 3981 3982 3983 3983 3979

17. The third part of the Call Number tells us which book it is. LC 3981 .S56 2001

18. So once we find the 3981s, we look for .S56, and there’s only one!

19. The last part of the Call Number tells us which edition the book is. LC 3981 .S56 2001
