2. THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE ADOPTED VILLAGES AND
SCHOOLS
Preamble:
•The Adopted villages/schools Program started in the college in 2010
•Four (4) centres namely Chaha village, Riyom village, G.S.S Riyom and G.S.S Vwang were
identified and Needs Assesment carried out.
•Three Poultry model houses were constructed at Chaha, Riyom and G.S.S Vwang
5. •All the four (4) model farms were stocked with broilers and Goat
6. •All these were achieved using the 2.5m released BY ARCN
•Fortnightly training meetings were held
7. PERIOD OF LIMBO (2011 - 2012)
•At the exhaustion of funds received from HQ, only skeletal services were
provided to ensure sustenance of farm operations by the cooperatives and
schools
•Internal budget proposals were made by the college but releases were not
made.
8. 2013 REJUVENATION
Activities commenced in earnest in March 2013 following the release of the
sum of two million naira (#2m) by the National WAAPP Coordinating office.
In particular, we were expected to execute the layer projects at Riyom
village and G.S.S Vwang.
9. STOCKING OF BIRDS
A total of two hundred and twenty pullets were stocked at each centers
10. FARM VISITS, CALLS AND FARMERS TRAININGS
Apart from weekly farm visits undertaken by the Desk officers, subject
matter specialists and the coordinator, the team was alert to emergency
calls especially during the early stage of the birds in the demonstration
farms.
