  1. Slide 1: Hook/attention grabber I promise I am not here to scare you. But as time goes on, it seems that our world needs to make some changes. Including our food. I’m not the food police nor am I hear to yell and tell you, you are a bad eater. I’m not perfect, I don’t always eat the best things for me. I am simply here to tell you that change needs to be made in hopes for a better tomorrow for us and our young. Change doesn’t have to be scary, in fact change can be good. Change doesn’t have to be difficult either. It actually can be as easy as peeling an orange.
  2. Slide 2: Hook/attention grabber Notice any of these? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. But even if you notice the name, I bet you don’t actually know what it is. These 5 ingredients are COMMONLY used in our foods. Little do we know what they actually mean. One of them you might be able to guess, “Sodium Chloride”. Technically it’s “salt” but when studied and observed you’ll find out that there is not one trace of anything real in it, not even salt.
  3. Slide 3: The Big Idea (pages 78-79) We have every right to know what we put into our bodies. Food should be made for us to survive and enjoy simple pleasures. The Oreo itself is not evil, the way it’s made is.  Either beneficial or junk food, food should be food not chemicals.  People should be aware of just what we are REALLY eating.
  4. Slide 4: What’s in it for your audience? Explain why your topic is important or worth discussing. Eating “organic” can have a bad rep. Many feel it’s just used as a business strategy to increase prices but less processed foods are proven to contain at least 50% more vitamins and nutrients than processed foods. Eating these can cut down health risks including cancer. Besides helping our bodies, we are helping our environment and our economy by Supporting local farms and farmers. We are also setting a good example for our children. Our children shouldn’t fall into society's awful habits. It’s our job as parents and teachers to teach our children how to eat properly and teaching ourselves a few new tricks won’t hurt.
  5. Slide 5: Why should your audience listen to you? Explain your ethos (personal experience, expertise, and credibility). At almost weighing in at 300 pounds, I had to learn the hard way about food. While I’m not saying, don’t eat, I’m saying that food choices are critical. I recall coming home everyday from school and downing a pack of cookies as a meal. Even though my food choices were poor there was more deeper problems than that. Such as corn syrups, white flour, and gelatin. 3 ingredients that took much more of a toll on my body then the weight. While I can still run into my old poor eating habits, I can say that 80-90% of my diet is pretty clean. While I would like to improve that, every day is a new beginning and Rome wasn’t built in a day. These sugars and salts work kind of similar to a drug and it takes time for your body to officially totally detox them. My blood pressure was borderline and I was on track to getting diabetes, today I can say my blood pressure is fine and diabetes is no where in my lane and I’m also 130 pounds lighter. . I know the journey is tuff and that’s why getting everyone on board can help us as a whole
  6. Slide 6: Call to Adventure (pages 38-39) We don’t have to fear what we put in our mouths. We can enjoy a clean, lean, green happy life while still fitting into our budgets and everyday lifestyles. Forgot the myths, it doesn’t need to be hard. The only thing that needs to change is the grocery list and our mindsets. We need to show the negativity the door and bring in positive thoughts. Don’t worry about your schedules, nothing is changing except for our food choices. One clean day can turn into a lifetime of happiness and healthiness
  7. Slide 7: Preview the three main points that will support your big idea Certain ingredients that have been put into our foods have been proven to show signs of health risks, including cancer. That’s a lot deeper than not being able to fit in your jeans. There is more than one article on the web that shows ingredients that are BANNED around the world yet allowed here in America. Banned as in, no human should be eating it. Eating organic has way more than just one beneficial factor. It honestly can change your life in whole.
  8. Slide 8: Introduce and set up Supporting Point One Before when I showed you these ingredients, you may have recognized some from your favorite products. But these ingredients can be viewed as deadly. These ingredients are commonly used and they are even put into foods that you would think wouldn’t contain them. Whether or not they are used for freshness or taste, the long term effects of these ingredients can affect our bodies.
  9. Slide 9: Factual or emotional evidence Acesulfame-K, also known as acesulfame potassium, can be found in many common soft drinks. Even though it’s approved by the FDA, studies with rats have shown this ingredient to cause benign thyroid tumors.
