Πληροφόρησης Κύπρου μέσα στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος
MINSTREL. Το πρόγραμμα MINSTREL αφορά στην υλοποίηση
ενός συνόλου ενεργειών με στόχο την διακρατική προβολή και
διακίνηση της Ευρωπαϊκής Μουσικής και την υποστήριξη της
κινητικότητας των Ευρωπαίων μουσικών μέσω της συνεργασίας
σημαντικών φορέων και οργανισμών που δραστηριοποιούνται σε
ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο στον τομέα της μουσικής. Γενικό στόχος του
έργου είναι η υποστήριξη της ευρωπαϊκής μουσικής πολυμορφίας
στο πλαίσιο της σχετικής σύμβασης της UNESCO.
Short introduction to the work of Cyprus Music Information Cen-
tre in the framework of the MINSTREL project. MINSTREL is a
project adapted to the needs of Music Information Centers. It has
as aim to promote worldwide local music, information and profes-
sionals as well as to support music exchanges and the transnational
mobility of musicians. The overall objective of the project is the
promotion of music diversity at European level in the frame of the
related UNESCO convention.

boarder Kevin Pearce. Με ανταγωνιστή τον Shaun White, ανήμερα
των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων, ο Pearce παθαίνει σοβαρή εγκεφαλική
κάκωση μετά από ατύχημα. Ο πόθος του να επιστρέψει στο snow-
boarding του δίνει κίνητρο για να γιατρευτεί, όμως η οικογένειά
του παλεύει ενάντια στο εγωιστικό του πάθος. Η δις υποψήφια
για Όσκαρ σκηνοθέτις, Lucy Walker, ρίχνει φως στην ανησυχητική

The rise and brutal fall of world-renowned snowboarder Kevin
Pearce. Battling with rival Shaun White as the Olympics approach,
Pearce crashes and suffers a severe brain injury. His desire to return
to snowboarding drives his recovery, but Kevin’s family struggles
with his selfish passion. Academy Award–nominated director Lucy

pushing the boundaries of their sports past the limit. How much

Όσλο και σ’ ένα επεισόδιο με πυρά στη νήσο Utoya. Το ντοκιμαντέρ
Wrong Time Wrong Place παρουσιάζει τις μαρτυρίες πέντε ανθρώ-
πων που έζησαν τα γεγονότα, προβάλλοντας επίσης το ρόλο που
διαδραμάτισαν στην τραγωδία οι συμπτώσεις.
On 22 July 2011, a bomb attack in Oslo and a shooting spree on the
island of Utoya took the lives of 77 people. Wrong Time Wrong Place
tells the story of 5 individuals who were present then and shows the
role of coincidence in this tragedy.

In this much-discussed and highly relevant film, six former heads
of the Shin Bet, Israel’s secret service agency, agree to share their
insights and reflect publicly on their actions and decisions. Inti-
mately interviewed, they shed light on the controversy surrounding
the Occupation of the Palestinian territories in the aftermath of the
Six Day War.

The Wagner Files is a cross-media project exploring the myth of
the great German composer. It includes a film, a graphic novel and
an application for tablets and smart phones. The film refers to the
aesthetics and storytelling of modern day crime-scene-series, with
staged acting scenes, comic-style animations and interviews with
renowned experts. Presentation of the cross media application by
the production team during Docs Talk.

The stories shared by 15- to 23-year-old youths at a casting call re-
veal how beautiful—and how difficult—life can be when you dream

είναι μια από τις πιο αλλόκοτες κοινωφελείς δραστηριότητες.
Έχοντας ως κεντρικό άξονα την ιδέα πως το σεξ μπορεί να σώσει
τον κόσμο, ο μη κυβερνητικός οργανισμός μαζεύει χρήματα για
περιβαλλοντικούς σκοπούς, πουλώντας ερασιτεχνικές ερωτικές
ταινίες στο διαδίκτυο.
Have Sex. Save the World. Berlin’s ‘Fuck For Forest’ is one of the
world’s most bizarre charities. Based on the idea that sex can save
the world, the NGO raises money for their environmental cause by
selling home-made erotic films on the internet.

In this chilling and inventive documentary, executive produced
by Werner Herzog, Errol Morris and André Singer, the unrepent-
ant former members of Indonesian death squads are challenged to
re-enact some of their many murders in the style of the Ameri-
can movies they love. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever
dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass-
murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and im-
punity they inhabit.

τους μιας Ρωσικής σχολής κινηματογράφου. Δέκα νεαροί σκηνοθέτες
που δεν αποχωρίστηκαν τη κάμερα τους για δυο μήνες, καταγρά-
φουν το χρονικό των χειμερινών διαδηλώσεων της Ρωσίας – το
χρονικό εκείνων που δημιουργούν το πολιτικό κλίμα κι εκείνων
που είναι δυσαρεστημένοι απ’ αυτό.
Winter, Go Away! was filmed by the graduates students of a film-
making school in Russia. Ten young directors did not part from
their camera for two months. The result was a chronicle of Russia’s
winter protests - a chronicle of those who make the political climate
and those who are dissatisfied with the makers.

Rocky Braat’s first trip to India was a journey of self-discovery.
While there, he visited a care centre for women and children living
with HIV and AIDS. It proved to be a life-transforming encoun-
ter. Blood Brother is a story of true conviction and dedication that
reaches beyond doing aid work for personal gratification.

Ένα κυριολεκτικό και αλληγορικό ταξίδι προς το διαφωτισμό, αυτό
το υποβλητικό ντοκιμαντέρ προβάλλει τη συνύπαρξη των παιδιών
σε μια από τις πιο φτωχές χώρες του κόσμου, με κοινό τους στόχο
τη μάθηση.
Every day during exam season, as the sun sets over Conakry, Guin-
ea, hundreds of school children begin a nightly pilgrimage to the
airport, petrol stations and wealthier parts of the city, searching
for light. A literal and metaphorical journey to enlightenment, this
evocative documentary tells how children reconcile their lives in
one of the world’s poorest countries with their desire to learn.

Ένα κινηματογραφικό πορτραίτο σε άσπρο και μαύρο της ηθοποιού
και ποιήτριας Κατερίνας Γώγου (1940 - 1993) που έζησε την
κοινωνική και πολιτιστική έκρηξη των Μεταπολιτευτικών Εξαρ-
χείων, έγραψε τα ριζοσπαστικά ποιήματα της και στο τέλος έκανε
μία rock and roll βουτιά στο θάνατο. Τη θυμούνται πολιτικοί
ακτιβιστές, ηθοποιοί, μουσικοί, ποιητές, εκδότες, ενώ η ηθοποιός
Λουκία Μιχαλοπούλου ενσαρκώνει ορισμένες στιγμές του καταρα-
μένου βίου της.
Katerina Gοgou lived her life like a flickering candle, wrote radical
poems and shared other people’s pain, before she took a rock ’n’
roll dive into death in the early nineties. Gogou is remembered by
people whose paths crossed her own, including actors, poets, politi-
cal activists, directors, singers and songwriters. Her film portrait in
black and white is complemented by previously unreleased audio-
visual material and dramatised sequences featuring actress Loukia
Michalopoulou.

Η Kalyanee Mam, διευθύντρια φωτογραφίας του Οσκαρικού In-
side Job, παρουσιάζει τρεις οικογένειες που ζουν στη σύγχρονη
Καμπότζη, αντιμετωπίζοντας τα δύσκολα διλήμματα της ραγδαίας
ανάπτυξης. Η ταινία A River Changes Course καταγράφει την συναρ-
παστική ομορφιά του πολυπόθητου αυτού νησιού, κι επικε-
ντρώνεται στις ριζικές αλλαγές που αλλοιώνουν όχι μόνο την
τοπογραφία της χώρας, αλλά και τα όνειρα του πληθυσμού της.
Director Kalyanee Mam, cinematographer of the Oscar-winning
documentary Inside Job, spotlights three families living in contem-

On 25th May 2011 the world renowned Ballet de l’Opéra national
de Paris presented Rain, its first ever performance of a choreogra-
phy by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. The documentary focuses on
how De Keersmaeker convey the dance idiom of the choreographer
to the classically trained ballet dancers. A poetic documentary
about searching, looking and hesitating within the walls of an opera
house.

Once upon a time music was able to change the world. No Fun is
about that time and one vinyl record which managed to do this.
Featuring lots of archive material, the movie concentrates on hap-
penings in Yugoslavia between 1977 and 1980. “Without punk
and No Fun the Berlin Wall would have fallen later!” claims Marin
Rosić, the central figure in the movie, which also features numer-
ous musicians, journalists, music critics and other people from the
scene at that time.

Σλοβάκοι ενδίδουν στο χιούμορ και στην ταπεινότητα των Τσιγ-
γάνων, σε μια συγκινιτική ταινία που αναδεικνύει τις ενοποιητικές
και θεραπευτικές ιδιότητες της μουσικής.
In an evangelical church in Eastern Slovakia, something extraor-
dinary is happening. A group of Roma gypsies and Slovaks have
come together to make music and are recording a CD of ancient
Roma songs in new compositions. Despite the cultural differences
and misconceptions, the Slovaks soon warm to the Gypsies’ hu-
mour and humility, in a stirring film about the unifying, therapeutic
power of music.

In the framework of the of the “Lemesos International Documentary
Festival”, a documentary professional event is organized entitled
DocsTalk. The initiative is directed to professional directors / pro-
ducers and to anyone who is interested in learning more about the
various aspects of creating a documentary film, such as storytelling
and the story’s structure, producing and developing, the opening
sequence, new filming techniques and festival distribution.

you grab the viewers’ attention from the very beginning of your
documentary film? Whether targeting a wide audience or screen-
ing to professionals, the very first minutes of a documentary are the
most important ones. If you do not grab the attention of your view-
ers within the very first minutes, they will most likely not watch the
remaining part of your film. During this Master Class, Ove Rishøj
Jensen will address this essential problem by showing a number of
great documentary openings and identifying key issues to make
sure your next opening does not become the end.

Media project The Wagner Files. Πέρα από την ταινία, η οποία θα

brueder Beetz Filmproduction - a company which produced more
than 100 documentary films - will present the The Wagner Files
trans media project. Besides the film, which will be screened at the
Festival, the project includes a graphic novel and an App designed
for iPad and iPhone and features archive documents and pictures,
interviews and audio recording, all of which provide a more im-
merse exploration of Wagner’s world. During the presentation,
Hannah Kappes will firstly give an overview of the company’s five
years experience in interactive storytelling. She will then talk about
the chances and obstacles the company was facing while developing
and producing this format.
