How to Put Web Pages in Your GatorLink
Web Space
Faculty, students, and staff at UF now can create Web pages using their GatorLink accounts.
These pages, which are created on your PC and transferred to your Web space, can be viewed
by others via the WWW.
To create these pages, you must first activate Web page service on your GatorLink account.
This creates Web space under your GatorLink username on the server plaza.ufl.edu
[http://plaza.ufl.edu]. You only need to do this once.
Activating Web page service:
1. Go to the GatorLink page at http://www.gatorlink.ufl.edu.
2. Choose the Modify command and sign in with your GatorLink username and
password
3. Choose Create from the Web page option in the modification menu that is displayed.
Creating Web pages:
After creating the Web space on your GatorLink account, you need to create your page(s).
1. Create Web pages with a Web-page editor (such as Netscape Composer or Microsoft
Front Page) or you can write pages using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) on your
PC. If you need help creating a Web page, read the tutorial/help provided with the Web
page editor of your choice, read HTML-coding books or handouts, or take a course.
Resources are listed below.
2. Be sure to name your main Web page index.html
3. When your page(s) are done, transfer them to your Web space on plaza.ufl.edu. You will
be prompted for your GatorLink userid and password. Do this using the settings in your
Web-page editor or using file transfer software. Both WS-FTP (MS-Windows) and Fetch
(Macintosh) are on the UF Software CD (available at the Technology Hub). For more
help with this, refer to the instructions on the GatorLink Information page,
http://help.gatorlink.ufl.edu. Click on Web Services.
