His parents, sister and brother died when
he was young.
6. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec
Henri de Toulouse Lautrec was born in 1864 and died in
1901.he died from to much alcohol. He was born in Albi,
France. He was home schooled. He lived in Albi for
eighteen years then moved to France to study the city
life and paint. When Henri was twelve he broke his leg.
When he was fourteen he broke his other leg. They both
failed to heal and had stout legs from then on. He liked
to paint the city life such as, nightclubs, racetracks,
circuses, and dance halls. He influenced himself to paint.
What impresses me about his art work is that its
beautiful with all the detail and how he paints everyday
life.

Jasper Johns was born on
May 15, 1930 in Augusta,
Georgia. He grew up in South
Carolina. For a brief period, he
went to the University of South
Carolina. As for his paintings,
he used non- traditional
utensils. He used materials
such as wax, canvas, and oil.
His first painting was called
“Flag”. His work was mostly
abstract. Jasper Johns is still
alive.

American painter and printmaker. She
was born in Allegheny City ,PA. She was
born under favorable circumstances,
her father a successful stockbroker. Her
family opposed to her dreams of being
an artist. She lived much of her life in
France. That is were she made her first
painting, A mandolin player. Cassatt
pronounced ca –sat was an
impressionist and often created images
of the social and private lives of
women, with particular emphasis on
the intimate bonds between women
and children.

artist. He was born in Manhattan, New
York on October 27th, 1923 and died
of pneumonia on September 29th, 1973.
He mostly worked with oil and magna
paint to create his works of art. He
won many awards like the National

1995. One of his most famous works is
Girl With Ribbon in Her Hair.

40. Alexander Calder
• Alexander Calder lived from July 22, 1898 to November 11, 1976. As a
child, his family moved around a lot for his parents’ work.
• He created mobiles and sculptures. Alexander Calder’s materials included
wire, leather, and cloth. His first piece was Cirque Calder. Calder was
inspired by modernists in Paris. Some of his famous works include Red
Mobile, Man, the Crab, Flamingo, and many others. In Calder’s work he
wanted to express joy, making his pieces fun to look at, whimsical. In
1952, Calder won Grand Prize for XXVI Biennale de Venezia for a sculpture.
He also won first prize in Romht and Haas Plexiglass Sculpture
Competition.
• I like how his work is delicate and bold at the same time. I like the
materials Calder used.

Claude Monet was and still is a famous painter.

He used pastels and liked to paint landscapes.
His most famous paintings are Bassin aux
Nympheas, Garden at Giverny and Bridge at
Argenteuil. He had a wife and two childern who
all died befor him. With his bad eye sight he
keeped painting he made many different
versions of Bassin aux Nympheas.

He was born in Vinci, Italy, in 1452. He lived there for 11 years, then moved
to Florence and began training with a man named Verricchio. After a couple of years,
Verricchio allowed Leonardo to help him on a painting called “The Baptism of
Christ.” After his training, he moved to Milan. There, he worked on “Lady With an
Ermine.” Then he moved back to Florence and worked on the “Mona Lisa.” He then
moved back to Milan. After moving to Rome, then France, he died in 1519.

religion. His most famous works of art is the Mona Lisa and
The Last Supper. An interesting fact about Da Vinci is he
wrote in mirror writing, which is backwards. He had an
incredible imagination.

Fernando Botero was born in Columia on
April 19 1932. After attending a Jesuit school
in Mendell , he was sent to a school for
Matators in 1944 for two years. He first
exibited in 1948 with many other artists from
the Region. He painted for the El Columbia
(National Columbian Newspaper). Botero got
inspiration from Diego Rivera, David Alfaro
Siqueiros, and Jos. Botero moved to Bogot in
1951. In 1953 Botero moved to Barcelona
Spain where he studied at the Academia de
san fernando in Madrid. In 1953 Botero
moved to Paris. Botero then studied the
works of the rennaisance. Fernando Botero
later became one of the worlds most original
artists and sculptors.

Monet first lived in Northern Seaport L Havre
but in 1859 moved to Paris. Monet refused
to go to the school his parents wanted him
to. Instead he spent most of his time in local
cafes. Monet studied with Eugene Boudin
who introduced him to landscape.
72. Edgar Degas (Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas ) was born on July 19th 1834 in
Paris France. One of the most famous French impressionists. Most of Degas
work was oil or pastels on canvas. His favorite things to paint were dancers
and horses, although he painted many other things. Degas is MOST famous
for his work on dancers. When he worked on painting dancers he would go
to a local dance company and paint there. Although he painted dancers
dancing he LOVED to paint dancers reading the newspaper, sewing there
ribbons, adjusting straps ect… When Degas was older he began loosing his
eyesight. When he could barely see he began using clay, using clay with very
little eyesight he created one of his most famous pieces; The Little Dancer of
fourteen.

person, and then cloned my face onto
