Build Internal Links For Your Blog The Right Way – Blog SEO
One very important on page SEO technique is it internal linking. Internal linking is the process of linking to other
contents within the same website. Internal links can be extremely valuable to your Blogs SEO Strategy.
On a lot of my blog posts you will notice that I link to other relevant content on my website using keyword
relevant anchor text.

To get a better understanding of this technique let me show you an example f rom one of my blog posts. In my
post Black Hat SEO And T he Future of Search Engine Optimization I have an internal link very early. See
screenshot below:
2. Two Met hods To Add Int ernal Links To Your Blog
In this post I used the anchor text SEO to link to my blog post about setting up the WordPress SEO Plugin.
I use two dif f erent internal linking methods:
Automated internal linking
Manual internal linking
To make word press automatically link to other relevant blog posts I use a plugin called SEO Internal Links. T his
plugin allows me to identif y anchor text that I want to automatically link to certain posts.
To make this process simple I created a Google spreadsheet that tracks each one of my blog posts URL and
the keywords I’m trying to rank them f or. T hen I have a third column that has a f ormula that converts the links
to the f ormat the SEO Internal Links plugin wants.

I can then quickly copy that f ormula over to the plugin and it will begin automatically internal linking my posts
based on the settings of the plugin.
3. Having the keywords and blog posts in the spreadsheet is a nice way to visualize things. It is a great research
tool as well as I can search on the keywords I’m trying to rank f or to see if I’m already internally linking to
another post f or similar keywords. T his way I can make sure I’m not duplicating the keywords I’m trying to use
as anchor text.
Building Int ernal Links Manually
While I do love the automated links I actually pref er manually interlinking my blog posts. When using the manual
method I am able to put emphasis on the post I want and the anchor text I want to use. I can also revive an old
post that has been buried way back in my blog archives.
I go about manual interlinking a couple of dif f erent ways. T he f irst thing I will do is go to my homepage af ter
reading the post and search f or the keywords I am targeting in my new blog post. When I search the site it will
f ind posts related to that keyword and give me ideas f or what I can link to within my new blog post.
Another way that I like to do it is by going into preview mode of my new blog post. I use the yet another related
posts plugin. When I view my blog post in preview I can view the other blog posts that this plugin thinks are
relevant to the current one. T his is another way to get great ideas f or internal links in your blog posts.
Building internal links is a great way to increase the user experience f or your blog while also improving on page
SEO. Make sure to implement it into your blog SEO Strategy.
