- 1. Communication Strategy:
Welcome to SBS! We would like to welcome you to the start of the new year with a list of ways
we communicate here at SBS. If you are new, returning, or curious as to what channels to listen
to as we communicate out please note the information below!
Website Communication:
Official Notes:
Official Notes are communications from teachers or disciplinarians alerting Students and
Parents of either disciplinary action or praise. All Official Notes are approved by a specified
member of the administrative team per school level and are only published if approved. This
helps Parents, Students and Teachers all be on the same page when it comes to any issues
that may come up in the classroom or while on campus.
Assignments:
Assignments are your students class work and homework. These will be paired with information
from the Topics page that each teacher sets up for the students. All assignments and class
work will be posted for parents and students to access at anytime. Some assignments will have
a dropbox feature attached where students can turn in their assignments before class. Turning
in assignments via dropbox will become more frequent as we continue in our efforts to reduce
the School’s carbon footprint by printing less.
What Assignments should look like for all students :1
Title of Assignment (CH 1 Part 1)
Description (Read pages 114 and write a paragraph...)
Assignment Type (Homework, Classwork, Quiz, Project, etc.)
Date Assigned and Due2
Links: Links associated with Assignment
Downloads: Downloads required for assignment
DropBox: If an assignment needs to be turned in this will be active
Announcements:
Announcements are a big piece of communication for possible last minute notifications,
reminders and announcements. We ask that you turn on notifications for Announcements to at
least receive an email, so you will be reminded (parents, students, and teachers). [screen shot

Middle School:
The Bulletin Board for each class will contain information that remains up all year, similar to a
welcome board in the classroom. The content will change for you and your students in Topics
as students work through these during the year. The Assignment Center will be a place students
can submit their work, see what is coming for the week, and they should correspond with topics
that are current. Communication over the course of the students time here at SBS will shift from
Teacher to Parent and Student, to Teacher to Student as your child progresses through the
Middle School.
Teachers will be responsible for updating the content above in the appropriate way so your
calendar will be current and accurate for their class once you have synced your calendar to the
feed. Any last minute changes will be communicated via Messages, and reminders through
Announcements. For a weekly recap our Pushpage will cover what happened in the week for
SBS as well as each school level. Make sure to click the Middle School link!
Upper School:
The Bulletin Board for each class will contain information that remains up all year, similar to a

assignments.
