- Russia is the largest country in the world and provides the chance to conserve biological diversity at large scales. Russia covers 9 time zones and has a variety of landscapes. To give you an idea of its sheer size, a flight traveling the nearly 4000 mile distance from Moscow to Kamchatka takes nine hours (click).
