NSW undertook a review of the whole business

ranking projects in priority.

3. • All information from the banking system is now printed to file and stored
on the file server rather than all hard copies
• Reduced number of printers and following a printer renewal program
over the past 12 months we are now tracking actual print, scan, copy and
fax volumes which will allow us to actually see the results of any paper-
free initiatives introduced.
• Paper use has reduced from 1500 reams per annum 2010/12 to 1260
reams per annum 2013/14 while our customer base has grown by 10%
• With the introduction of e-statements, the take up of ‘online banking’
and continuing development of back office initiatives to remove paper
from our systems the amount of actual paper use will continue to
diminish.

4. • Ongoing management of 21KW solar panel system’s usage through regular
monitoring
• Savings have been identified as 2010/11 = 33.2 tonnes, in 2011/12 = 31.5 tonnes,
2012/13 = 34.2 tonnes and in 2013/14 = 34 tonnes of CO2-e.
• Since 2010, there has been a total reduction per annum of electrical energy from
259,298 kWh to 225,300 kWh.
• This is the result of the installation of the solar power system, the upgrade of the
lighting system, improved management of the HVAC system, improved IT,
reduction in the use of printers and improved staff awareness and engagement.
• Hume conducted a review of its energy supply chain conducted which resulted in
a change of energy supplier to Momentum Energy (and the purchase of green
power, ex Tasmania Hydro). Momentum Energy is a green energy company.
