Lifting The Veil on Benue #ThinkNigeriaVoteGoodluck
1. 1. We have done quite a lot with the MDGs. We have applied the money
judiciously, we are doing those projects articulated by MDGs, those that
would impact positively on the rural people, and we also make sure that
we site these projects in places where they will have optimal impact on
the people. Because of how happy the people are, I am quite excited about
the scheme. I think Nigeria as a country needs to domesticate the MDGs
and make it a national programme where money would be set aside to
continue the MDGs, because its impact has been tremendous across the
length and breadth of this country. MDGs should continue beyond 2015.

2. I came in here yesterday very ill, but because of the quality treatment I got,
the attention and care from the medical personnel, I’m feeling much better
now. I can see that they take good care of patients. Throughout last night,
the medical personnel did not sleep because of me, and I believe that is
how they take care of all patients that come in here. I would like to say
thank you to those who built this hospital, because without this hospital,
maybe I would have been dead yesterday when I took ill, but here I am
alive and much better now.

3. Before the introduction of the MDGs programme, we had problems in
the rural communities, for instance, provision of boreholes and clinics.
When we were selected to be on the MDGs programme, in a jiffy, a lot
of clinics sprang up in the rural settings in most of the 12 council wards.
They also provided classrooms in primary schools and boreholes in rural
communities, and you know the basic problem in the rural settings is
potable drinking water, so when this came, it put smiles on the faces of the
people. Before the intervention, some people left their homes by 2 am in
search of water and come back sometimes around 8 O’clock, When MDGs
came, that stopped, because water is now available around our houses for
use anytime. Equipped clinics have also been provided by the MDGs, so I
give them 98%.

4. The former PHC was grossly dilapidated but we used to just manage it
because there was nothing we could do. Patients hardly came for treatment
then because of the dilapidated building. The intervention by MDGs
changed the situation of things here. We are very happy with the MDGs
because of this facility. The wards are filled with patients. I don’t know what
else to say than thank you MDGs.

5. Before this water scheme, the community used to get water from the
stream. The water they got from the stream gave them diseases and
the children were always sick. This water scheme is very good and the
community enjoys it very well. With the coming of this MDGs solar power
borehole most of those diseases especially the one that comes with water
are eradicated. We thank MDGs and the Federal Government for providing
this water for us.
