3. Two speakers from the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency visited the AP Human Geography
class on April 16th. Students and the speakers discussed how human geography influences
the NGA as it responds to natural disasters abroad and domestically.
4. Over 4000 high school students from across the USA attended the National Scholastic Press Association in Seattle,
WA April 12-15. Alex Amico was won Superior Award in broadcast commentary earning him the title of National
Champion in his event. Anna Jurkowski, Anna Peck and Jack Wilson also earned Excellent awards in their
categories, ranking them among the top students in the nation in their events.
We are one of two high schools in Virginia to win awards (TJHSST won 3 honorable mentions) and Virginia was the
only state East of the Mississippi to be honored.
