Student Library Ambassadors. K-State Libraries are looking for undergraduate and graduate students with a strong interest in making a positive impact at K-State. Ambassadors will be advocates for K-State Libraries and serve as representatives to guests, alumni, prospective students and current students. Ambassadors will also advocate for the perspectives and needs of the student body. This is a great opportunity for students to get involved and build leadership skills. Look for advertisements in a few weeks!
Learn Your Library: Goodnow Hall RA requested a library program for her residents, so we created this! They came by for an hour, used collaboration stations, used our website, talked about what they use/didn’t understand/etc. and then ended with a library card game…In a Pickle style!Bulletin Board in a Bag: We can provide materials to Ras if they want to do a board about academic resources. My colleagues were joking about calling it “creating your scholarly arsenal”! We have 4 posters in total, not just these 2.Guide: Activity suggestionsGO TO INSTRUCTION REQUEST MENU
Fun: craft night; trivia night; game night (low impact introduction to library spaces and staff, set students up to feel comfortable coming to the library later for academic purposes, ask for help)One-time events: Banned Books Week discussion, Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys (books, films) will be hosting eventsAcademic: Research Rescue; Learn Your Library; Archives (history of K-State, dorms, sports, etc.), education in their spaces, tools of interest (Refworks, google scholar etc.) digital literacy type stuff, make fun infographics! Be an add-on to floor program. If you’re planning a study group and a lot of people are writing papers, let us know if you’d like a librarian there! We can give in-depth advice about which databases to use, great organizations to check out, where to find statistics or data.
