2. WaterWiseTMGardenDesign Examples This WaterWise garden is in a Mediterranean style. Smooth stone filled walkways pass beds of lavender, colorful spurges, tall, slender cypress and ground covering sun roses. Clumps of blue fescue grass catch the wind. This is a good garden style for a hot, sunny slope. Most of the elements are evergreen so the look of the garden will not vary much seasonally.
3. WaterWise GardenDesign Examples This WaterWise garden re-creates a hot, dry slope in Oregon. All of the plants are Oregon natives. The slope increases the drainage of the soil and captures the sun, increasing the temperature. The design makes use of the slope by incorporating some natural looking steps leading to a viewing bench beneath a Madrone tree. Other native plants include Vine maple, Silk tassel and several types of Manzanita. Most of the plants in this design are evergreen and very structural, preserving the look throughout the year.
4. WaterWise GardenDesign Examples This little garden is Asian in style. Rock and pathways lead the eye and the feet and create a lot of visual interest. This garden is quite shady and all of the plants are adapted to do well in shade as well as dry conditions. WaterWise designs are good for shady locations too. Many of the plants are evergreen and have been chosen for their variation in texture.

The look of this garden will not vary much through the seasons except for a procession of small bulbs, annuals and perennials.
7. WaterWise GardenDesign Examples Another naturalistic style garden with a dry rock riverbed focus. This garden is on a much smaller scale than the one in the previous slide. Drought tolerant shrubs replace large trees and groundcover hardy geraniums add color.
8. WaterWise GardenDesign Examples In this example most of the lawn has been replaced with wide, curving borders of colorful and varied WaterWise plants insulated with bark mulch. The reduction in the size of the lawn will greatly reduce use of water and chemicals .
9. WaterWise PlantsDesign Examples Another example where a small portion of a landscape has been converted to a WaterWise bed. In this case, a large triangle at the junction of the sidewalk and driveway has become a very eye catching drought tolerant garden. Rock is used decoratively and as a groundcover mulch. The central purple Smokebush is particularly attractive in bloom and contrasts in color with the flowing groundcover thymes and blooming lavenders.
