• The kingdom of Spain was founded in 1492 with the addi8on of the kingdoms of Cas8le
and Aragon.
• This same year was the first voyage of Christopher Columbus to the new world, and the
beginning of the Spanish Empire.
• Muslims and Jews who didn’t want to switch were kicked out from the country due to the
inquisi8on that was made.
• In the next coming centuries Spain was the most significant colonial dominance in the
world.
• Spain was the most dominant state in renaissance Europe and the most important global
power during the 16th century due to the immense wealth from the Americas and for the
most part of the 17th century.
• The eighteenth century Spain saw hope for a new dynasty, their was great effort towards
the restora8on of the Spain with contribu8ons from the American war of Independence.
• A series of wars and revolts capped by the overpower by the English of the “invincible
armada”
• Disagreement over succession to the throne devoted Spain during the 18th & 19th century.
