WHY CHOOSE THIS THEME ? “ A person is said to be guilty of sin not only when he commits a wrong, .... but don’t forget that, when he neglects (omits) to carry out a duty too, he is also guilty of sin.” AllRightsReserved©Zhulkeflee2010
WHY CHOOSE THIS THEME ? With regard to the duty of “ Da’wah ”, many mosques and organizations may only be looking at what they have done, and applaud them for it. Yet, can we dare say we have fulfilled our  Fardh kifaaya  (community obligation) adequately? AllRightsReserved©Zhulkeflee2010
WHY CHOOSE THIS THEME ? Thus, this series of talk may be critical of our shortcomings in  Da’wah , which in no way deny whatever good works already done. It will focus on what may not have been done, or what perhaps may have been neglected (ignored or forgotten) to be fulfil adequately ( fardh kifaaya ), as we are still accountable for them and would be held against us for them, in Allah’s judgement. WHY CHOOSE THIS THEME ? Also, some in our community may have (knowingly or unknowingly) imitated or applied methods, criteria and standards, quite opposed to that of Islam,  in our  Da’wah  approach. Muslims’ (especially  activists, their) understanding of meaning of  DA’WAH  should not be only the general, but must know its detail connotation, so as to be able to distinguish between: DA’WAH   –  directed towards non-Muslims, which primarily this term is meant for. Unfortunately this aspect has now been almost totally neglected. Some called it “ direct da’wah ” ISLAH   –  for every initiatives to bring about improvements towards Muslims, through calling, educating and carrying out their social duties. Those who know, regards these efforts as “ indirect da’wah ” IMPORTANT ! AllRightsReserved©Zhulkeflee2010
إِذَا ضُيِّعَتِ اْلأَمَانَةُ فَانْتَظَرِ السَّاعَةَ   قَالَ ;  كَيْفَ إِضَاعَتُهَا يَارَسُوْل الله ؟  قَالَ  ;  إِذَا أُسْنِدَ اْلأَمْرُ إِلَى غَيْرِ أَهْلِهِ فَانْتَظِرِ السَّعَةَ   “ When a trust is neglected, then wait for the  time (of its destruction).”  Somebody ask: ‘How shall this be neglected  O Messenger of Allah?’  He the replied: “When a matter (affair) is  given over, not to its rightful (legitimate) person,  then wait for its time (of destruction).”  ( Hadith of the Prophet s.a.w. reported by Bukhary )  AllRightsReserved©Zhulkeflee2010

  • 4. WHY CHOOSE THIS THEME ? Thus, this series of talk may be critical of our shortcomings in Da’wah , which in no way deny whatever good works already done. It will focus on what may not have been done, or what perhaps may have been neglected (ignored or forgotten) to be fulfil adequately ( fardh kifaaya ), as we are still accountable for them and would be held against us for them, in Allah’s judgement. Muslims’ (especially activists, their) understanding of meaning of DA’WAH should not be only the general, but must know its detail connotation, so as to be able to distinguish between: DA’WAH – directed towards non-Muslims, which primarily this term is meant for. Unfortunately this aspect has now been almost totally neglected. Some called it “ direct da’wah ” ISLAH – for every initiatives to bring about improvements towards Muslims, through calling, educating and carrying out their social duties.   • 58. إِذَا ضُيِّعَتِ اْلأَمَانَةُ فَانْتَظَرِ السَّاعَةَ قَالَ ; كَيْفَ إِضَاعَتُهَا يَارَسُوْل الله ؟ قَالَ ; إِذَا أُسْنِدَ اْلأَمْرُ إِلَى غَيْرِ أَهْلِهِ فَانْتَظِرِ السَّعَةَ “ When a trust is neglected, then wait for the time (of its destruction).” Somebody ask: ‘How shall this be neglected O Messenger of Allah?’ He the replied: “When a matter (affair) is given over, not to its rightful (legitimate) person, then wait for its time (of destruction).” ( Hadith of the Prophet s.a.w. reported by Bukhary ) AllRightsReserved©Zhulkeflee2010
