3. II – God’s provision “ Give us this day our daily bread . . . ” vs. 11 A.) THE SUBSTANCE Bread here not only represents food, but is symbolic of all necessary provision for the preservation of life. (Food, Clothing, Shelter) This part of the prayer both in the form of a petition and an affirmation that every thing comes from God. “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17

4. “ Give us this day our daily bread . . . ” vs. 11 B.) THE SOURCE When all our needs are met and everything is going well in our lives we often think that it is because of how good and hard working we are. The prayer reminds us that the source of all of this is God our Father. “ But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” – Deutoronomy 8:18 Apan hinumdumi si Jehova nga imong Dios kay siya maoy nagahatag kanimo sa gahum sa pagbaton sa mga bahandi, aron malig-on niya ang iyang tugon nga gipanumpa niya sa imong mga amahan, ingon niining adlawa. 5. C.) SUPPLICATION Supplication (Petitioning) is expressed in the word “Give.” This is the heart of the petition because it recognizes need. Even though God may already have provided it, we ask Him for it in recognition of His past, present as well as trust on his future provision. “ Give us this day our daily bread . . . ” vs. 11 E.) THE SCHEDULE The schedule for God’s provision is “daily.” We are to rely on Him one day at a time. We are not to worry for our future as He has given us the confidence that he will provide for our needs. D.) THE SEEKERS The “us” in Jesus model prayer are those who belongs to him. God is committed to supplying the needs of His own.

6. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass . . . Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. . . 8. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world You are more blessed than you know ! If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy
