2. The music video
The Britney Spears- ‘Toxic’ song uses a narrative
form of music video. It tells a story throughout
the song, switching from Britney starring as an
innocent Airhostess, transforming into an action
figure character; portraying the ‘Toxic’ aspect of
the song.
3. Music
This video involves both diegetic and non-
diegetic sounds.
An example of the use of diegetic sound is
towards the end of the video when birds are
following the plane, you can hear the noises of
the birds.
Plus there is also non-diegetic sound; being the
actual sound track of the song.
4. Mise en Scene
First costume of the music
video, fitting in with the
plane scene, Britney dressed
as an airhostess.
Second costume, with little
coverage creating a
provocative look. Also
appealing to the male
audience.
5. Mise en Scene
More of an ‘action’ outfit, with Britney on a
motorbike; creates a more exciting scene. Giving
the appearance of a video game.
7. Camerawork
• Wide shot used to
show the surroundings,
but with the artist still
being the main focus.
• This is followed by a
zoom in towards Britney, to a close-up of her
singing the song lyrics.
8. Editing
• Good use of special effects
for the explosive scene,
making it more exciting for
the viewer.
• Features like this used to
duplicate the action figure
Britney is portraying, and
to create a futuristic feel.
