2. INTRODUCTION
All of my media products are very closely related to
each other, this includes my music video, my magazine
advert and my digipack. A variety of different methods
and techniques have been used to ensure that my
media products relate to each other.
I have spent time researching different digipacks and
magazine adverts from different bands such as „Foo
Fighters‟ and „Arcade Fire‟, to give me an idea of how to
create my ancillary texts and also how to relate them to
each other. I researched bands of the same genre as
„Kagoule‟, to make sure that my media products fitted
into the correct genre.
5. IMAGES
My digipack relates to my music video because of the images which I have
chosen to use. Two of the images used are images of the band, which are
shown in my music video therefore showing a link between the two. Another
two of the images used for my digipack are of one of the characters used in
my music video, again showing a connection between my digipack and music
video. Another image used in my digipack is a screenshot from one of the
shots I took for the music video, which shows how both of these media
products link together.

6. IMAGES
The main image used on my magazine advert is an image of the band which
has been used on the front cover of my digipack and my magazine advert
also has a small image of my digipack, these show how my digipack and
magazine advert relate. As an image of the band who are performing in my
music video has been used for my magazine advert, it shows a connection
between the two media products and also enhances the bands identity. Using
images of the band on my ancillary texts has also been done to make the
band seem like stars. The images which I had used had also had similar
editing done to each one, as the contrast and brightness were changed to
create effect and so that they related to the shots used in my music video.

7. LAYOUT & CONTENT
As I have mentioned that I researched different magazine adverts and
digipacks this allowed me to use these ideas as inspiration when I was
constructing my ancillary texts. For my magazine advert I included, reviews,
ratings, links to the band‟s website, links to the band on social networking
sites, and a release date etc. I have used links to social networking sites as
this will appeal to my target audience of teenagers because they are the
group of society who use these websites the most. Including reviews and
ratings into my magazine advert was done to persuade the consumers to
purchase the product.
My digipack included the parental advisory logo, track listing and a logo of the
record company. The logo of the record company was also used on my
magazine advert to relate the products together.

8. TEXT
The text used on my digipack and magazine advert are another method I
have used to show the connection between the products. The band and
album name on both ancillary texts are in the same font which is „aovel cool‟,
as well as this the band name on each of the products is the same size and
this is the same for the album name. This has been done so that these two
texts stand out and reinforce the bands identity. The rest of the text on my
ancillary texts is in the font „Lucida Sans‟ and this has been done to show the
similarities between my ancillary texts. My digipack and magazine advert also
relate to each other because of the colours of the font which have been used.
I have only chosen to use two different colours which are black and white to
show a relation and establish a connection between my ancillary texts. For
example on both ancillary texts the band name is in black but the album name
is the colour white.

9. Throughout my media products, I believe that I have managed to achieve
continuity without being too repetitive.
The costumes used in all of my media products are very similar which
has been done on purpose to show a connection between them. They
are also similar so that they all fit into the indie genre and to show the
youthfulness aspect of my media products to relate to the target
audience. The lighting which has been used in the images and shots in
my media products is similar to show a relation between the products
and this style of lighting will be associated with „Kagoule‟.
My media products also conform to Richard Dyer‟s theory “a star is an
image constructed from a range of materials” because my media
products relate to each other to create the star image.
Also the images which have been chosen for my digipack and magazine
advert have been chosen on purpose to promote the band and to make
the band seem friendly so that the audience can familiarise and relate to
them.
