2. • IPC Media is a well-known and popular
publishers with an estimated 26 million
adults reading their magazines in the
UK, therefore I know that my magazine
will be advertised well and read by lots
of people. Their reputation will also
mean there will be more advertising
opportunities which will allow my
magazine to attract the niche genre.
• They also publish successful music
magazines such as ‘NME’ and ‘Guitar
and Base’. Also, I used an ‘NME’
contents page as a style model which
suggests that the style of my magazine
will be something they are familiar with
and know how to promote. Also, ‘Guitar
and Base’ is a similar concept to my
magazine (live, acoustic
music), therefore the audience will be
similar.
3. Firstly, I would distribute my magazine
through traditional physical methods
such as selling copies in newsagents and
supermarkets . This is because they are
the main places that customers purchase
magazines , therefore I am likely to get
more sales and a wider audience viewing
my magazine. Another benefit of selling
in newsagent is that the magazine is
accessible to all and the supermarkets
are likely to distribute my niche genre
magazine because they stock hundreds
of specialist magazines.
20 million magazines are bought a
year from newsagents on
impulse, therefore there is a high chance
my magazine will be bought on a large
scale.
4. I would also want my magazine to be
advertised in clothing stores because
through my audience research I found that
they were interested in highstreet, alternative clothes stores. This means
that whilst looking at festival fashions , they
can also purchase a festival magazine. Some
stores that could advertise my Festival
magazine is Topshop, Primark and Urban
Outfitters because they promote items
independently on their counters and also
online . ASOS is an alternative clothing shop
online that advertises a monthly
magazine, and since they have a festival
fashion section on their website, they are
likely to promote my own magazine by
advertising it in their magazine.
5. Another method to distribute my
magazine would be online because my
target audience are constantly y
connected to the internet through their
love of technology. They also listen to
music mainly on the radio and YouTube
therefore I could advertise my magazine’s
website on those media sites. Many
magazine companies are starting to have
versions of their magazines on the internet
(JOOMAG) therefore by using that
distribution method, I will be keeping up
with competition. Also, I will be able to
appeal more to my target audience
because young adults spend more time on
the internet than in shops and its also a
more quick and efficient way to get the
latest information.
