Production (000 bales) Rain (mm)
Impact of Rains on Cotton Crop
• Continuous rains affected pollination (100mm to 373mm).
• 128 mm for 28 days during 3rd week of July upto 3rd week
of August 2015 as compared to only 13 mm during same
period last year.
• Heavy rains resulted in high humidity which favored flare
up of Whitefly, Jassid and other pests.
• Resulted in limited application of inputs, growth of crop
deteriorated and pest complex established.
• Damages due to rains coupled with prevailing lower cotton
prices & high rates of inputs, farmers lost interest in
spending more on already damaged crop.
Has climate change only affected
the Pakistani cotton??

  • 14. Impact of Rains on Cotton Crop • Continuous rains affected pollination (100mm to 373mm). • 128 mm for 28 days during 3rd week of July upto 3rd week of August 2015 as compared to only 13 mm during same period last year. • Heavy rains resulted in high humidity which favored flare up of Whitefly, Jassid and other pests. • Resulted in limited application of inputs, growth of crop deteriorated and pest complex established. • Damages due to rains coupled with prevailing lower cotton prices & high rates of inputs, farmers lost interest in spending more on already damaged crop.
