The sucessor to the XOLO Q1010, the Q1010i offers near-identical specs, but sweetens the deal with an 8MP primary camera with a Sony Exmor R sensor. Priced in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment, the Q1010i has its work cut out for it in terms of competition, and will have to contend with big names like the Moto G and Nokia Lumia 630. Here's a quick review in pictures.
2. Quality finish in a sleek frame
• Encased in an 8.3mm
frame, the phone is a
sleek, rectangular slab
with a chrome strip
running along the edges.
• It skips the onscreen
controls for Android
navigation buttons below
the display
• The matte-finish back
panel is removable
• There’s also a free flip
cover included in the box
3. Vibrant, responsive display

with 720p resolution, with Asahi scratch-resistant
protection

controls too
4. The snapper is the heart of the phone…
• The Q1010i features an 8MP
primary camera with a Sony
Exmor R sensor, f/2.0 aperture
and 5-element lens
• The camera app is quite basic,
offering HDR, Panorama,
Scene Modes and Smile
detection
• You can also choose colour
effects, white balance, ISO and
exposure
• The 2MP front camera can
capture decent selfies, but lags
when it detects movement
5. …with good results that lack the wow factor
• The primary camera can
capture videos in 1080p
• Macro shots are sharp
with a nice depth of
field effect, but
landscapes lack detail
when zoomed in
6. Almost stock Android with minimal bloatware
• The dual-SIM smartphone
ships with Android 4.2.2
Jelly Bean, with a KitKat
update on the way
• Runs an almost stock
version of Android, with
barely any bloatware
• Includes the XOLO Power
app to keep a check on
battery and CPU usage
7. Fine for routine tasks, but not intensive games
• The Q1010i is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6582
processor that can handle routine usage and mutitasking
• The Mali 400-MP2 GPU is fine for light gaming, but not ideal for
heavy graphics
• There’s 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage
8. Battery that gives you a day’s worth of juice
• The phone is fuelled by
a 2,250mAh battery
• It easily lasts a day on a
single charge
• You can configure a
Low Battery Mode or
Night Mode from the
XOLO Power app
• Our standard video
loop test gave us eight
hours of juice

Pricing and verdict
“The XOLO Q1010i offers commendable features and
build quality, and the prospect of an Android KitKat
update is the cherry on top. The lauded primary
camera isn’t all that it’s made out to be, but is still
better than a majority of smartphones at this price
range.”
