MBA 665 Module Four Small Group Discussion Rubric
Your active participation in the discussion forums is essential to your overall success this term. Discussion questions are designed to help you make meaningful
connections between the course content and the larger concepts and goals of the course. These discussions offer you the opportunity to express your own
thoughts, ask questions for clarification, and gain insight from your classmates’ responses and instructor’s guidance.
For this discussion, your instructor will divide the class into groups of four to five students. Read the assigned text chapter, as well as the following articles: How
Citizens United Changed Politics, in 7 Charts and Corporate Politics, Governance, and Value Before and After Citizens United. Pay particular attention to pp. 304–
315 of the text.
Then address the following questions within your small group discussion workspace. Post your personal ideas first and then as a group arrive at a consolidated
opinion.
Should the First Amendment protect corporate political expression? Why or why not?
If not, where should you draw the line for corporations between freedom and restrictions?
If you were in charge of government relations at a business, what strategies would you now employ, in light of the Citizens United decision,
to advance your position?
Choose one person in the group to post the consolidated opinion to the small group discussion submission for your peers to review.
In your individual response post to the larger group, state whether you support the position of the other peer groups regarding the Citizens United decision in
the case. If so, why? If not, why not? Be sure to provide detailed justification for your response and support in the way of scholarly research cited in APA style.
