Samuel Richardson was born on
19 August 1689,Mackworth ,
United Kingdom.
Samuel Richardson was an English
writer and printer best known for
three epistolary novels: Pamela; or,
Virtue Rewarded, Clarissa: Or the
History of a Young Lady and The
History of Sir Charles Grandison.

He printed almost 500 works in his life, including journals
and magazines, working periodically with the London
bookseller Andrew Millar.
Died on 4 July 1761 Parsons Green, London, United
Kingdom.
7. About Novel Pamela
Pamela; or, Virtue Rewarded is an epistolary novel first
published in 1740 by English writer Samuel Richardson.
Considered one of the first true English novels, it serves as
Richardson's version of conduct literature about marriage.
Central theme of ‘Pamela ‘covers a variety of social themes
such as the social classes of English society, the importance of
chastity, virtue and femininity, religion, a bit of feminism, and
of course love and marriage. As a servant girl about to marry a
nobleman, Pamela wishes to be accepted into the aristocracy.

Rohena Gera is Director, Screen play writer and Producer of movie ‘Sir’.
First it was realsed in Annual Film Festival (Cannes) on 14 May 2018.
Movie was released on 13th November 2020 in India on Netflix.
Tillotama Shome played role of Ratna (Maid)
Vievk Gomber played role of Ashwin (wealthy Business Man).
11. Character of Pamela and Ratna
A lively, pretty, and courageous
maid-servant, age 15, who is
subject to the sexual advances
of her new Master, Mr. B.,
following the death of his
mother, Lady B.
Mr B tried to abuse her and
then and in later half novel
Pamela is attracted towards
Mr.B and gets married.
Ratna was also a young maid servant at
Ashwin‘s house.she was very pretty and
young and Hardworking.While in later
half part of movie Ratna was also
attracted towards but Ashwin but she
later she comes in to reality.That
marriage is not possible
But Ashwin was still in love with her.
12. Character of Mr.B and Ashwin
Mr. B is a wealthy gentleman and the
son of Pamela's late mistress. At the
beginning of the novel, he takes over
the household and becomes Pamela's
boss.Mr.B was also having girlfriend
named Sally Godfrey.After then he was
attracted towards Pamela. Pretty soon
he becomes her worst nightmare—and
then he becomes her husband.
Ashwin is also a wealthy young man he also
had girlfriend Sabina but due some disputes
he left her. And he was also Bossy like Mr.B
but slowly and steadly he got attracted
towards Ratna(maid) . And in second half
part Ashwin tells Ratna please don’t call me
‘sir’ call me”Ashwin” and at last on a phone
call Ratna calls her sir as Ashwin.Eternally
they have accepted themselves by their
heart but not by the society.
13. Conclusion
Theme and Background of the novel is same but their
slight differences between Movie and Novel .In novel
Pamela and Mr.B are getting married and lived happily.
But in movie they didn’t got married they have just
accepted themselves by heart but due to the the
society and class problem they didn’t got married. But
both had same feeling so at last Ratna calls her Sir by
his name Ashwin.
