hand experience, word of mouth

This works basically like mass media. A lot of people can be
reached, a lesser percentage can show interest, and even
fewer can go out of their way to be comfortable enough to
recommend.

The private space leverages on direct interaction. Personal
experiences and word of mouth go a long way. Less people
are reached but the impressions left by these interactions
have a larger impact.

Social currency in respect to your career is simply how people
perceive the work you do - they’ve heard of you, they’ve seen
you around, they’ve worked directly with you, they’ve found your
work somewhere and they have opinions about it.
