4. These three texts would be suitable for a
broadsheet newspaper . I was thinking that
they could be used for the headline as they
are really bold are clear to read as they are
in a standard font and nothing to fancy.
I thought that these would be suitable for the text
(article) as they are easy to read and quite formal
and they arent as bold and they are different to
the headline fonts.

6.  Flat Plans – I decided on these flat plans as they were mostly like a broadsheet newspaper the way it is all set out
– the headline, the images, the text etc. I think that I'm going to go for the first flan plan and use that as a
template for my broadsheet as it looks set out better and more clear. The second one is really simple like only
having one image for example so I think that the first one would be better.
 Fonts – I like the fonts that I have chosen for the headline as I think that they are clearly readable and they are
formal for this kind of newspaper. I also like the fonts a chose for the text as it is also clear and easy to read.
They both suit the broadsheet well and that is why I chose them.
 Images – The images I chose were simply of seals – I gather than from Google and then decided on which ones I
wanted to use in the article.

18.  We were asked to create a broadsheet newspaper article, we had to plan it first choosing the layout and the
images and then produce it. My masthead was going to be of the press and I got their masthead from their
website and put it on but later on I decided that it looked dull and basically colourless and I wanted it to look
more like it was from the press itself so I found a different one and I used that instead as it looked more like
a newspaper and it just added something to it.
 Taking the Headline into account I wasn’t too sure where to place this as at first it went under the masthead
and it just looked plain when I had finished it and that’s why I decided to use a different masthead and then
I moved the headline down into a different position which looked a lot better and the whole space of the
paper was used instead of just some text and images making it look colourful. But I made the headline bold
and put it in the biggest sized font possible so it would fit perfectly into the grid but the only thing I wanted
to changed was the height of it as like I said before there is no colour what so ever on it and didn’t want a
lot of whiteness showing.
 This all obviously took an impact on the text, images and pull quote, I had to move them around a lot to get
them to look ok and not to space out to each other. With the images I didn’t want them too close together
but unfortunately they have ended up like that due to the position of the pull quote and the text – so I would
have needed to change my whole layout for it to work, but overall the images are ok, they fit with the
article and aren't off subject and I have chosen two different images.
 The text I am happy with as it is all in columns and is easy to read –not too mixed up into odd places for
people to read. They are all in paragraphs and the pull quote in directly in the middle of the page and so
people can clearly see it is also in a reasonable sized font.
 For the advert I just had a simple one as I didn’t want anything too much that would draw attention away
from the article but overall its an advert which is simple and fits within the grid.
 Overall I think it is ok, I have the correct images to fit with the article, my text size and fonts are easy to
read and are spaced out. The things that I would change are just the pull quote – I would reposition it
somewhere or make it bigger or just something as there is space to fill and the text is not very well spaced
out – it is all on one side of the page then on the other it is just images.
