Review / Q&A • There are LOTS of options
• Start getting into the habit of using Azure Monitor as your
first point for all monitoring toolsets
• Deep-dive into the new Log Analytics query language, and
the additional power and insights we gain from it
• Although Log Analytics (LA) has several security solutions,
start using Azure Security Center (ASC) as your first point
for all security toolsets
• Keep a close eye on Network Watcher, as just like Log
Analytics-to-Azure Monitor and Log Analytics-to-Azure
Security Center, it will become another important starting
point for all network-related toolsets

Over the past few years, we’ve seen the unification of monitoring tools and features, being brought under the ‘Azure Monitor’ umbrella
We start with collecting data, and gaining insights into that data…
Application Insights
Azure Monitor for Containers
Azure Monitor for VMs
Monitoring Solutions (25 listed)
Activity Log analytics
AD Assessment
AD Replication Status
Agent Health
Alert Management
Azure Site Recovery
Automation Hybrid Worker
Azure Application Gateway Analytics
Azure SQL Analytics (Preview)
Backup
Capacity and Performance (Preview)
Change Tracking
Containers
Key Vault Analytics
Malware Assessment
Network Performance Monitor
Office 365 Analytics (Preview)
Service Fabric Analytics
Service Map
SQL Assessment
Surface Hub
System Center Operations Manager Assessment (Preview)
Update Management
Upgrade Readiness
Wire Data 2.0 (Preview)
Now that we’ve collected all that data, we need a way see what’s going on…
Dashboards
Views
Power BI
Workbooks
With all this data, we need to analyze it (and for that, we need machines because there’s too much)
Metric Analytics
Log Analytics
Now that we know what’s going on, we have data points to react to…
Alerts
Auto-Scale
Event Grid/Hub
Logic Apps

Q: How many people think that you can only use Microsoft monitoring tools? That you can’t use 3rd party tools?
Q: Does anyone want to guess how many 3rd party tools Azure Monitor integrates with?
