The Number 1
in Collections Management Technology
Editor's Notes
Our development strategy has had some changes in the past 12 months and it is my aim to give you a bit of background into how we got to where we are and where we are heading.
12 months ago an announcement of Clover was made at a joint meeting in London to Adlib, CALM and Mimsy users.
They were introduced to Joel and Mats from Axiell Group
We promised some ambitious development targets
And some things changed
The development team were tasked with creating a whole new application
Components were created and overseen by Andrea and Bert
Whilst this was happening we instigated some customer engagement sessions and workshops so we could find out what users wanted – lead by Gayle
We then wrote a brief and appointed a UX company for interface design, to put the softer touches on the application and to help us make the right decisions.
BVO2 did some more evaluations and we continued to do more workshops and fed this into the development
The components list and requirements grew, Clover was getting bigger and more feature rich – but this wasn’t seen as a bad thing
Other museums liked what they saw and they chose Axiell on the basis of this
We implemented a live version in the Netherlands – University of Amsterdam Theatre Collection
The company had some changes and we were only just getting to know how to work together. Some staff turnover didn’t help but we employed again and reassigned other staff in the interim.
Communication within the company wasn’t always the best and we were all learning the reporting required of a larger company. This is a learning curve still and a challenge we are addressing.
Communication to you our customers, people worried when they didn’t hear anything. As a company we need to be better at this but we making this a priority
Timelines were ambitious but the scope changed (for the good) we just need to acknowledge that. I don’t think we could have foreseen the changes in 2014.
Risks – We had seen some issues with our competitors being unable to deliver to the expectation of the customer. There were risks that customers would leave if the new version didn’t have their special feature that they relied on. We had to take this into consideration.
In 2014 Calm, Adlib and Selago combined for a full year for the first time
KE was added from 1 April
This was a big change and affected the Clover project, how to deal with these Aussies selling EMus
Axiell now had greater than 50% market share but we couldn’t forget about Clover
Clover
Becomes a project to create web technologies for all four products.
Aim is to create a collections management infrastructure that delivers to our customers needs. We also want to open this up to more developers within the company.
We embraced the increase in scope and acknowledged the innovative tools and experience that were already available within the newly combined company.
Much lower risk strategy that will deliver results faster
For those that pay support and maintenance we want to recognise this investment and not double charge you.
We see a standard web interface as being an alternative way of entering data into your system not a new application - Our aim is to make the web application as accessible to our customers as possible.
Optional tools may incur
some costs, eg. iBeacons, DAMS
35 countries
3000+ customers
18 offices
690 million items
25% of revenue within Axiell is from the ALM side of the business – it is really, really important to them (us).
