2. Single Phase Core
Type
In the core type transformer, the magnetic circuit
consists of two vertical legs or limbs with two
horizontal sections, called yokes. To minimize the
leakage flux, half of each winding is placed on each
leg of the core. The low voltage winding is placed
next to the core, and the high voltage winding is
placed around the low voltage winding to reduce
the insulating material required. Thus, the two
winding are arranged as concentric coils.
3. Single Phase Shell
Type
The shell-type transformer is a simple
rectangular form and the core surrounds
the considerable portion of the windings
which is shown in fig. Both the primary &
secondary windings are placed in one limb.
And the coils are wound in from of multi-
layer disc type. The different layers of the
multi-layer disc are insulated from each
other by paper.
4. Three Phase Three
Limb
The Three-Phase Programmable Generator
block is used to simulate a 1.7 pu overvoltage
on phase A (from 0.2 sec to 0.3 sec),
producing saturation of phase A.
Transformers in both models start with zero
initial fluxes. In order to decrease the time
required to reach steady-state, Anti-
saturation Control blocks are used to quickly
force the average fluxes in the three phases
to zero.
