ABOUTTHE CARE HOME
UP’s first residential care home of orphan children living with HIV/AIDS
Satyakam Care Home has been established for HIV/AIDS affected who have lost one or both of their parents due to this illness.
These children are often neglected and ostracized by society and abandoned by their relatives too. Presently, there are 11
children, 2 to 14 years age are living at the care home. The foundation aims at bringing a positive transformation in the life of
these children by providing them education, nutrition, psychological support, health and recreational support. The children
have been enrolled in schools to provide them with mainstream education. A few of them have also been awarded for their
excellent performance. Meals are cooked at the centre wherein well-balanced nutrition meals are provided to these children.
For their overall development, yoga classes are organised three times per week, sports are encouraged and other develop-
ment programmes are organised time to time. Doctors, teachers, students and others have shown a keen interest to volunteer
their time with these children.
The residential care home provides:
 24 hour care and protection.
 Medical help facilities
 Access to school education and support after school
 Nutritious meals with a proper diet chart for each day
 Celebration of the birthdays, and other events that create a family environment for each of the children under Satya-
kam’s protection
 Counselling support for the children
 Recreational and cultural activities
 Life skills training
 Occasional excursions
ABOUT SATYAKAM
Satyakam, a Meerut based civil society organization, since its inception in January 2004 has been
working towards the development of the community and for the protection and holistic develop-
ment of vulnerable children in the areas of education, health and HIV/AIDS, women’s empower-
ment, livelihoods and peace-building.
The organization provides shelter, nutritional diets, education, medical care, health care benefits,
counseling & recreation, rehabilitation and care to the orphan children living with HIV/AIDS. It is
also working to end the negative discrimination of these children from the mainstream society by
bringing about a behavioral change in the community through awareness.
Satyakam is also working for the development of women through a “need based and participa-
tory approach”. It runs livelihood based programmes and provides skill development training for
marginalized women and facilitates their participation in decision making for their own benefit.
All the work of the organization is achieved through societies support and local as well as national
partnerships with different government and non-government agencies.
Vision
Our vision is to develop a society with no disparity towards the children belonging to marginalised
sections and those living with HIV/AIDS. We also strive to work towards secured livelihoods and
ensured right for the women.
Mission
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children belonging to marginalised sec-
tions and those infected with HIV as well as affected by AIDS by helping to meet their diverse
needs, advocating and educating on their behalf, and bringing joy and fun into their lives.
The organisation also endeavours to create and provide all possible opportunities to the women
empowered through awareness, education, income to be "enhanced by learning various work
skills" and right attitudes confidence.
