STATISTICAL SOFTWARE  Specialized computer programs that help you collect, organize and analyze your data using statistical methods.  Advantages of using statistical software include being free from manual tasks , saving time , dealing with large amount of data and obtaining valid and reliable results .  Types : SPSS, STATA , SAS
3. 3. APPLICATIONS : IN MEDICAL RESEARCH : Due to advancement in technology, statistical tools are being used in medical research for greater efficiency and accuracy . These tools are easy to use and they handle end to end processes of collecting, organising , analysis and interpreting data. Use of statistical tools allows clinical researches to draw reasonable and accurate inferences from collected information and to make sound decisions in presence of uncertanity. This can prevent numerous errors in medical research . IN EDUCATION : STATA: because of its rising popularity , department of economics at various universities have chosen it as primary stastical software used among core courses. It engages with fundamental statistical analysis, executes advanced
4. 4. Cont. econometric procedures and creates visually stunning graphs and tables. SPSS : These are used in social science related research projects to analyse enormous data .That can be used in surveys, market research, data mining etc. With help of this , researchers can easily identify particular products demand in market . STATISTICAL SOFTWARE AND MATHEMATICS : The potential of learning from computers has shifted to learning with computers using these softwares. Students learning the characteristics of algebraic function through interacting with graphic software package by inputting test equations and observing the fit with correct one is one such example. Students are able to participate in learning processes by using design feature embeded within application .
5. 5. IN BUISNESS : using these software tools , we can analyse the business as a whole . We can integrate all the data sets from different parts of business and then get insights that can help us to make decisions that are most appropriate for specific situation. Without software , business would be forced to do everything manually using a lot of guesswork. With help of software data sets from across the business can be analyzed using different approaches . This will help company take preventive measures against unforeseen events in future . IN HEALTHCARE : IBM SPSS helps healthcare organizations worldwide support medical research , improve disease management , monitor the quality of patient care, improve operational efficiency. It lets you easily investigate relationship between variables, such as patient treatments and dose responses in clinical trials .
6. 6. In Economic data : Statistical methods are to collect and analyse the data and test hypotheses. The relationship between supply and demand Is studied by statistical methods using softwares , imports and exports , inflation rates , and per capita income are problems which requires statistical methods . IN FOOD SCIENCE : Quantification of toxins in food and nutrient content determination rely on dependable methods of chemical analysis. Statistical techniques play a part in monitoring and reporting of such results. This gives confidence that results are valid and consumers benefit in the knowledge that certain foods are safe and that diet regimes can be planned with surety

The advantages of using these programs in food research are ; graphs with a high definition can be generated in seconds , simulations of result can also be performed using a small amount of time . IN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY ; pharmaceutical statistics is application of statistics to matter concerning the pharmaceutical industry like analysis of drug trial or design of experiment . Evaluates the activity of drug , eg. effect of caffeine on attention . To explore whether the change is produce by drug are due to action of drug or by chance . To compare the action of one or two different drug or different dosage of same drug are studied using statistical method .
8. 8. OTHER APPLICATIONS : DEMOGRAPHIC STUDIES ; Age , gender , height , weight , BMI DESIGN and analysis of clinical trials in medicine . Analysis of genomic data . Related to often disease and disease control . ASTRONOMY ; Measurement of sizes , masses, and density of heavenly bodies by means of observations . ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING , PUBLIC HEALTH , ETC
