1. Arctic weekend temperatures turned sea water to ice at Pendine over the weekend. Other
areas of the U.K also saw coastal waters begin to freeze. Apparently temperatures dropped
to minus 12 in most of the country in the early hours of Saturday morning. I spoke to two
local men who remembered the last time the sea in Pendine was frozen over. They said it
was very unusual to see the ice on the sea at this time of the year. The freezing point varies
based on the amount of salt in the water. Generally seawater freezes at around -2 degrees
C (28.4 degrees F)
